NHL Playoffs thread
Best non-MSU time of year in the sports world. I have a feeling not a lot of you guys care much about this but I'll be watching most of the games.
Besides Florida, the field is full of the usual suspects minus Montreal. No teams from Canada this year. It'd be cool for Jagr and friends to win a series or two but the Islanders are a tough 4 seed. The Pens and Ducks are hot and Dallas, Chicago, and Washington are all exciting teams to watch. I think Dallas comes out of the West to face the Caps (who don't choke, for once) and Ovi takes the Cup in 6 games. Wings lose to Tampa.

Puck Soup #1: Katie Nolan
I haven't listened to the whole thing, but here's a pic of Katie Nolan if the podcast sucks.

The hook that wasn't called on 13 or the slow developing, unobstructed 1 timer from 35 feet that Howard whiffed on?

No, I was referring the to the goal where Tampa dumped it in from the red line and DeKeyser couldn't flip from his skates from well inside the blue line (must have stiff hips) and got beat for the puck in the corner and then Helm getting pick pocketed

Re: NHL Playoffs thread
If you're looking for a bandwagon to latch onto, Dallas is an exciting team. Fun team to watch especially when they're at home. Lacking experience but I like their chances.
Here's a little preview of the other teams: Anaheim is big, fast, and physical. Perry and Getzlaf are as good of a duo as you'll find with Perry being the main scorer. LA is what you'd expect if you've paid any attention the past few years - great goalie in Quick and just a well-coached team. Chicago is Chicago. Toews and Kane are legit superstars and the team is loaded throughout. If they get past StL, it'll be a hell of a series with the Stars. Hard to pick against their talent and experience, and I love watching them play, but the Blues might nip them. StL won 1-0 in OT tonight.
In the East, Washington is for real this time as opposed to the previous #1 seed Caps teams who choked. Ovi is Ovi and their goalie won a fuck load of games. They added TJ "Sochi" Oshie (US Olympic hero) and he's helped. The East won't be competitive. Caps should walk to the finals. Pittsburgh will beat NYR in 5 imo, too many injuries for the Rangers. Florida is a great story with Jagr and everything, but I'm picking the Islanders to upset them (that's a little biased though, NYI are my favorite team to use on Xbox).
Bump this when everything I said is wrong and a team I didn't mention hoists the Cup. The playoffs are hard as hell to predict which is why they're so great. Washington is the favorite at +500, Dallas at +750 or so and I can't remember the rest.

Kings are perilously close to going down 2 games to none against the Sharks with the series moving to SJ. They are down 2-0 late in the 2nd period. Next goal is gonna win this game.

Kings won it 2-1. It was on NBCSN
Solid night of hockey. Minnesota with a huge home win over Dallas after losing both on the road and falling behind 2-0 in the first 10 minutes tonight when the Stars came out hot. Wild won 5-3. Still taking Dallas in that series but Minnesota showed some life like they always do at home. Washington is cruising, no surprise. Lol at Philadelphia's goalies for the past few years. When will they realise they need to pick up a solid netminder if they want to win the Cup?

Wow, bad night for 1 seeds. Isles, Wild, and Philly all scored huge road wins. Got called into work so I couldn't watch (or drink) as much as I would've liked. Tomorrow, I'll go to the spring game and then sit on my ass and drink/watch hockey the rest of the night with some bros. can't wait
