Paterno might have known about Sandusky as early as...

Post by Turtleneck on 2016-05-05, 20:56

...1976

According to PennLive, the order also cites incidents of other assistant football coaches witnessing “inappropriate contact between Sandusky and unidentified children.” The website says that a court order related to an insurance coverage case involving Penn State includes a line that one of the school’s insurers has claimed “in 1976, a child allegedly reported to PSU’s Head Coach Joseph Paterno that he (the child) was sexually molested by Sandusky.”

I know a guy who is employed by the defendant.

This guy was speaking with another employee of the defendant who was in sales...mentioned PSU had been looking for insurer to back date coverage.  They knew.  He knew.  So sick and disgusting.

A local talk radio guy is a PSU grad and complete homer. Shockingly he believes these claims have little "veracity."

Little more than that. He constantly says the school never did anything wrong. Everything was handled fine. It's a weird cultish attachment to the school's football program. One that goes past anything I have seen on an MSU board.

I realize I took the generalization a bit far - for the purpose of illustrating the absurdity of sports fans by being absurd with my example. But, yes, I'm certain if such a horrific thing happened at any other university in the country, there would be a lunatic fringe wing of the fan base that would blame it on Delaney, the officials, the Blue Wall, etc.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/15490089/penn-state-legal-settlements-jerry-sandusky-accusers-cover-alleged-abuse-dating-1971

"Penn State's legal settlements with Jerry Sandusky's accusers cover alleged abuse dating to 1971, which was 40 years before his arrest, the university said Sunday in providing the first confirmation of the time frame of abuse claims that have led to big payouts.

The university has paid out more than $90 million to settle more than 30 civil claims involving Sandusky, now 72 and serving a lengthy prison sentence for the sexual abuse of 10 children. The trial involved only allegations dating back to the mid-1990s.

The settlements, including the one covering the 1971 allegation, were reached after Sandusky's 2012 conviction. But few details have been provided on the payouts by either the school or lawyers for those who said Sandusky victimized them."

Joe Paterno knew of Jerry Sandusky abuse in 1976 per testimony in newly unsealed records

Ouch.

A man testified in court in 2014 that Penn State football coach Joe Paterno ignored his complaints of a sexual assault committed by assistant coach Jerry Sandusky in 1976 when the man was a 14-year-old boy, according to new court documents unsealed Tuesday in a Philadelphia court.

The victim, who was identified in court records as John Doe 150, said that while he was attending a football camp at Penn State, Sandusky touched him as he showered. Sandusky’s finger penetrated the boy’s rectum, Doe testified in court in 2014, and the victim asked to speak with Paterno about it. Doe testified that he specifically told Paterno that Sandusky had sexually assaulted him, and Paterno ignored it.

“Is it accurate that Coach Paterno quickly said to you, ‘I don’t want to hear about any of that kind of stuff, I have a football season to worry about?'” the man’s lawyer asked him in 2014.

“Specifically. Yes … I was shocked, disappointed, offended. I was insulted… I said, is that all you’re going to do? You’re not going to do anything else?”

Paterno, the man testified, just walked away.

I don't think so.  I think as recently as last month about 200 former players were petitioning to have it restore.  Sometime back in the spring even Trump (scumbag) wanted it restored.

Just coming here to post the new article.

I honestly think they should be kicked out of the B1G.

It would hurt the conference and MSU, but there are still people at that university who knew.

Paterno had plenty of ammo and time to fire or transition Sandusky, but didn't do a damn thing! Why Paterno ever wanted the God worship is beyond me. What a disgrace!
