Nope. I also have the opinion that Tom Izzo is MSU's best basketball coach of all time.

Bump for Hollis. Pin this thread. Hollis needs to see our appreciation.

The way he realized MSU would generate revenue from MHSAA games than hosting an NCAA Tournament game that would cost the school money was brilliant.

Hollis and Mason are the only ones since Biggie that matter.  Burt Smith did some nice things but ruined it by bolting for the Arizona desert and taking Rogers with him.  Weaver was just OK, though he never really had to do much, though I guess you can credit him  for hiring Perles.  I suspect, though, that Perles was getting hired no matter who the AD was.

This big time. Nike money could have been used to build hockey program aND replace IM west. Dude should be renegotiating big time instead of planning a celebration of the founder. Total bitch move here.

Plus now is the time to fix the softball program since bball and football are set for the next 5 or so years.

In short, he's great at marketing and maintaining the revenue sports, avg at best for everyone else.

Agreed. We are and have been quite fortunate with our current lineup of coaches. I was unsure of LAKS when she was hired as pres, but she's been a leader and guiding force since her appointment. I'm even willing to give a nod to the BoT for their support and generally just staying out of the way. Yeah, Joel, I'm talking about you. The stability has allowed the coaches do what they do best.

I hope Hollis told Joel to back the fuck off because he lost any right to open his pie hole when he sold his Citrus Bowl ring.

I love this discussion guys. I think we all agree here but I think it would be nicer if we shared our favorite memories. I remember once, when one of our players transferred late in his career after it was clear that he just wasn't getting it done here, but because of the hard work he put in over the years, when his new team came to East Lansing to play us in a non-con game, Izzo let him kiss the floor. Great moment for Spartan basketball right there.

That's why I love Izzo.

MSU is an elite program, not elite-lite. There is no such thing as elite-lite.

Honestly, Izzo does not have anything more to prove to me. Another NC would be nice and all, but not necessary to prove he is an elite coach and belongs in the HOF.

Agreed, SRC. He could make 15 more Final Fours without a national title and I'd be completely okay with it.
