July 4th Plans?

Post by Robert J Sakimano on 2016-06-28, 08:23

what are you guys up to for the 4th?

if it's okay with some of the people here who seem to have a problem with things I say and do, I'm heading out this afternoon to spend time in the great state of North Carolina - in and around the Asheville area. Gonna get in some cycling, drinking.. hit up a show or two at either The Orange Peel or the Grey Eagle.. possibly Jack of the Wood..

gonna be a good time....

Good bye Bob when are you comin back so I can put it on a calendar? I'll miss you.

Also, I don't really have any specific plans beyond the same ole bbq my parents host each year.

I don't think there's a single person here who has any problem with what you do. It's a free country. I also don't think anyone has a problem with others seeing through what you do. It's a free country.

One of my favorite drives is Denver to Aspen. Show them Independence Pass, Continental Divide, and some gorgeous views. Just make sure the person driving agrees to never take their eyes off the road, not even to grab a quick look at the steep drop. It's been a couple of years, but I think it's about a ~3 hour drive, give or take 30 minutes.

I'm playing and singing at a wedding in a couple weeks, so I need to practice. My lady will be out of town. So that, smoke some weed, drink a little, maybe play some vidya games. Masturbate. All in all a good weekend.

Crazy love - by Van Morrison, Cannon in D, and They're walking out to The One - by Kodaline... I had not heard of them. It's corny as fuck, but the bride gets what the bride wants.

would you be up for set list suggestions?

if so.. please consider the following:

1. type of shindig
2. the extent of your musical prowess
3. do you have regard for those in attendance?
4. is it a solo gig? full band? stringed quartet?

No. This is what they want.
1. Wedding? Duh.
2. I am awesome.
3. I don't understand the question.
4. Solo. I have two guitars: a classical and a regular acoustic and a small P.A. setup. This is for the ceremony itself. I ain't no wedding singer.

I've got some friends who have done quite a bit of busking around the country (and parts of Europe) and they tell me that when the tips are running low, the just crank up Wagon Wheel.
