True making it this will be based on not choking in the big ten games.

It's still way too early to tell.  We had a similar start last year and then so-so B1G season, and not advancing far enough in B1G tournament. I thought we might take a step back after losing Mekkes, Zimmerman and Vieaux.

Gleaves has been a great addition so far.  The RPI is going to change a lot over the next few weeks. Competition is going to get a little better and right now the RPI looks good because of winning road/neutral site game.

FWIW, michigan is the only other B1G team mentioned anywhere (USA Today poll, well below MSU in the ORV group).

Was following along gametracker but it wasn't worth posting updates about errors and grand slams.

9-2 loss drops record to 9-2.

I jinxed it, trailing  2-1 now.

Dropped game one 3-2 but Troop went the distance, three hits and two earned runs.

MSU jumped out to a 2-1 lead after one, fell behind, and retook the lead 4-3 after five, T6 now.

MSU And Illinois Will Wrap Up Series Sunday On BTN

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Michigan State baseball’s third game of its series at Illinois will remain as scheduled for Sunday at 3 p.m. ET and will be nationally televised on Big Ten Network. MSU and Illinois will not play Saturday due to inclement weather.

Win tomorrow and I think we might be back in the rankings Monday. 15-5 with a 17 RPI should do it.  Hell, u of m is anywhere from 17-21 in the four polls with a 40 RPI as of last Monday, sitting on a 16-5 record this morning.
