BLUE WAVE? GOP NOW LEADS BY 1 POINT ON GENERIC CONGRESSIONAL BALLOT: “Republicans have erased the Democratic advantage on the generic congressional ballot in a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll that, for the first time since April, also shows President Donald Trump’s approval rating equaling the percentage of voters who disapprove of his job performance.”

I've been saying for months now that he'll get reelected. The Dems have no fucking message and a bunch of old centrists fucks running the party. The Reps will probably lose at least one house though.

I know this isn't a "number" but it's something that we wouldn't have seen a couple years ago.

The Food Bank up here is advertising that they have leftover boxes of food.

IOW they're having trouble giving away free food.

That tells me the economy and jobs are humming pretty good for now.

the number of funerals held today for the victims in Florida's school shooting on Wednesday:

1

The first of 17 funerals for the victims of the Wednesday school shooting is underway in Florida. Mourners are remembering Alyssa Alhadeff, 14, a student at Stoneman Douglas and a soccer player for Parkland Travel Soccer.

Lori Alhadeff, Alyssa's mother, told HLN she dropped her daughter off at school Wednesday and said, "I love you." When Lori Alhadeff heard about the shooting, she hustled to school but was too late.

Things continue to go to hell for the average American.

Private-sector jobs grow by 235,000 in February, vs 195,000 expected: ADP/Moody's Analytics

Job creation saw another powerful month in February, with companies adding 235,000 positions, ADP and Moody's Analytics reported Wednesday.

The total again defied Wall Street expectations, as economists surveyed by Thomson Reuters were expecting payrolls to grow by 195,000. Growth actually decelerated slightly, as January posted an upwardly revised 244,000 from the initially reported 234,000.

February marked the fourth month in a row that private payrolls hit 200,000 or better.

"The job market is red hot and threatens to overheat," Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody's, said in a statement. "With government spending increases and tax cuts, growth is set to accelerate."

February saw broad-based gains that stretched across both the services and goods-producing sectors.

Working Again: A Flood Of Americans Back Into The Workforce.

More than 800,000 Americans joined the labor force for the month, according to the report, many bypassing unemployment and jumping straight into jobs. It was the largest one-month increase in the labor pool since 1983, outside months that included one-time Census hiring.

"Main Street Is On Fire Again": Small Business Confidence Surges To Highest Since 1983

While it has been accused in the past of pandering to various political organizations, the NFIB Small Business Economic Trends Survey nonetheless reflects the mood of America's main street corporations. And according to the March release of the NFIB index, small business owners are showing "unprecedented confidence" in the economy as the optimism index continues at record high numbers, rising 0.7 points in February to 107.6 and above the 107.1 expected, the second highest level in its 45-year history, second only to the 108.0 reading in 1983.

Two Million Americans Got Off Food Stamps In Trump’s First Year

The number of food stamp dependent Americans hit a six-year low in President Donald Trump’s first year in office, reflecting an improving economy and falling unemployment, according to a U.S. Agriculture Department (USDA) report.

An average of 42.2 million Americans participated in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) program in 2017, which is an 11 percent decrease from 2013, when a record number of people used food stamps, according to USDA.

U.S. Consumer Confidence Hits 14-Year High

U.S. consumers’ confidence hit a fresh 14-year high this month, as lower-income households reported feeling more optimistic about the economy.

The University of Michigan on Friday said the preliminary result of its consumer-sentiment index was 102.0 in March, up from 99.7 in February. That was the highest level since January 2004, and well above the 99.0 economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal had expected.

The reading “continues what has been a strong run across a range of consumer sentiment measures,” JPMorgan Chase economist Daniel Silver said in a note to clients, adding “this strength in sentiment is one of the reasons we think consumer spending will pick up soon following a soft start to the year.”

The index rose 5.3% in March from a year earlier. A final reading for the month will be released March 29.

The latest survey showed optimism improved markedly for households in the bottom third of income distribution.

It will be high until the bottom 1/3 starts seeing cuts in SS, increases in Medicare Part B and other social safety net cuts.

It’s not speculation. Speaker Ryan started talking about those cuts to pay for the tax cuts within days of Trump signing the tax bill.

Toys "R" Us will close all US stores..

In September, Toys "R" Us filed for bankruptcy, hoping to shed debt and reinvest in its stores. At the time, Toys "R" Us disclosed that it had about $5 billion in debt and was spending about $400 million a year just to service it.

The turnaround didn't work. In January, the company said it would close 182 stores across the United States.

Toys "R" Us also told its 31,000 US employees that they will be laid off.

"That's horrible news, but that's the way it is," Brandon said on the call.
