Craft beer
Just cracked a Hopslam. Managed to pick up 2 cases in January but now down to 3 unopened bottles.

Enjoying one of these right now from Saugatuck Brewing Co. Had it on draft there a couple of weeks ago and they have now started to distribute bottles.
Delicious.
Delicious.
Re: Craft beer
Surprisingly, saugatuck's beer had gotten a lot better than it was a couple if years ago. They have some decent choices now.

I just found a new ipa. I'll have to get the name next time,a brewery in Florida, not cigar city. The cat 3 is very nice, the cat 5 is excellent. I've only seen it at one liquor store I go to. It comes in cans, high recommendation if you see it.

Re: Craft beer
Finally got around to trying some of Greenbush's stuff as my store of choice (Vine & Brew) started carrying it. Overall, most of them seemed a little sweeter than other beers of the same style, but I enjoyed the Brother Benjamin (DIPA) and Anger (BIPA). The other two I tried, the Sunspot (Hefeweizen) and Closure (Pale Ale) aren't anything I would buy again.

Anger and Distorter are awesome ... I would avoid Jadis (it's gross)

Their Double Cream Stout is good too. They also offer Expedition Stout...too sweet for me, like their porter. Recommend steering clear of their Java Stout...didn't like it at all.

Couple new Miami brews our there. Miami vice is an ipa, at first sip I thought out was crap, but after a few it grew on me. That is by Miami brewing company. Due south is going to be an excellent brewery based on their first few beers, very good. About to try an extremely cheap dipa that we'll probably taste like shit. Scuttlebutt Hoptopia. If I can still post after I've drank it, I'll try.

Re: Craft beer
The Citra is my go to Ale. Really hoppy and drinkable. I'm a big hop head and it is really good!
"Me so hoppy" is really interesting also -- a hoppy wheat.
The "Bean Flicker" is fun to drink -- almost can taste chocolate milk. It pours like a blonde but then hits you with coffee and chocolate.
Pineapple is crazy good and they make this Guana Crazy IPA (now called the Instigator) that is solid also.
Others to try: Firefly (Citra with mango and habanero). Mayan Mocha Stout (think mexican hot chocolate with a nice habanero kick on the finish). Peanut Butter Cup Stout (another good stout). Fat Bottom IPA (never bottled but had a 5 gal. keg at the office) and it was also good.
As you can tell, I am a fan.
Tried to add a link on the Owner / Brewmaster. He is an MSU grad. Was out of work as an accountant and started Odd Side.

It seems that adding hops to beers other than IPAs is all the rage now.
In the past week I've tried a hoppy lager (Magic Hat) and a hoppy wheat beer (Breckenridge). Kind of interesting.

I just saw it for the first time this weekend. I think it might have been the inaugural sale, since they had a shitload of it and were kind of pushing it. Was surprised that I didn't see as much Due South Brewing, which seemed pretty popular at ABC wine. They had it at the Total Wine in Kendall.MiamiSpartan wrote:

I really hate the distribution down here, Lagunitas used to be easy to find, but now there are only a few places that sell it, and there doesn't seem to be as many choices. DFH is starting to price themselves out of my market, there are beers that are just as good for a couple dollars cheaper. Let me know if you're ever in Kendall, we'll go to Hole in the Wall and have some beer and wings.

My big find recently was Cigar City's Cubano Espresso. I'd been looking for that forever. I love dark beers, and also Cuban coffee, so that's one of my new favorites. But yeah, distribution always seems really hit or miss down here.

Re: Craft beer
Stopped into Griffin Claw last night and was pleasantly surprised by both Norm's Gateway IPA (60 IBU and 4%) and also the Project Clementine (DIPA, 75 IBU and 9%).
I really enjoyed the recent Stochasticity Grapefruit Slam and the Clementine kinda reminded me of that (with the obvious difference of clementines instead of grapefruit).
The Gateway was similar to Norm's Raggedy Ass in flavor -- just not as big and little less hoppy. A really nice sessionable IPA.

Re: Craft beer
Guy at my local beer store was excited to tell me they got a few cases from Kona Brewing Co. He was selling them by the bottle to his regulars so everyone could try them. Bought 4 different: Fire Rock, Koko Brown, Big Wave & Longboard.
Have only tried Fire Rock & Koko so far. Fire Rock (pale ale) was pretty good but almost dead flat. Koko is weird...coconut is not something that belongs in beer IMO. It is also almost dead flat.
Looking at the labels it's obvious 'Kona Brewing Company' is mostly a marketing ploy. Yes, they have a brewery in Hawaii but they also have breweries in Oregon, Washington, and New Hampshire. Will never buy the stuff again.
