I have to give credit to Mike Green on the PP, really was seeing the ice well. I saw Frk play in Grand Rapids a few times, I thought he would of been called up last year but no dice, he could be a 20/20 guy.

Where to start?
I mean, the first thing with pea soup is the texture, okay?
I've had watery pea soup, it's AWFUL.
Uh, I've had gelatinous, thick pea soup, it's TERRIBLE.
Pea soup, much like clam chowder, needs to have that consistency first, that you can stand the spoon up in it, but the spoon soon tilts, that's the consistency you want.
Number two: Uh, pea soup on it's own can be a little bland. It wants, uh, a fairly aggressive peppering and salting.
Number three: Pea soup needs a fine dice of ham. Not bacon, not any other meat, not turkey. It needs a fine dice of ham.
Uh, number four: Uh, pea soup scorches easily. You don't wanna heat it on a high heat. You wanna heat it on medium low, just until it's warmed through.
Uh, number five: Pea soup is best made, uh, by hand, not out of a Campbell's can. And the key to pea soup, you want a ham bone, uh, for the stock you make, uh, to, to boil your peas.

Man it seems like they're skating well. Lots of speed and closing well. May be the fresh legs angle so early in the season.

Yeah we haven't really played the cream of crop schedule though, but going on the road for a little west swing isn't all that easy. I am still not sold.... but I won't be mad if this team wins 45 games and I look like an idiot with my prediction, story of my life.

The age is mostly on D, I mean Kronwall is like 37, Eriksen, Green are both like 32-33 and Daley has to be 34. I can't think of anyone like that on O except Hank, he's up there.

Yeah I knew they were long in the tooth on defense. Was a little surprised they were the oldest though. Looks like they clear alot of cap space this year but Larkin is gonna cost some cash.

I knew the expansion team had to crumble at some point.....

great fucking fighter, and he can credited for a lot of the success guys like Larinov, Yzerman and Federov had considering people didn't want to hit them. He was instrumental in our building to a cup winner in 97'. If he had not gotten his nose dirty he probably would have had his name etched 2-3 times on the cup. I think it speaks volumes to the type of guy he was that his biggest on ice adversary Tie Domi was at his funeral among many others of NHL royalty, RIP big guy.

http://www.freep.com/story/sports/nhl/red-wings/2017/10/21/detroit-red-wings-trade-riley-sheahan-pittsburgh-penguins/787875001/

The Detroit Red Wings have cleared space for Andreas Athanasiou by trading Riley Sheahan to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Wings acquired forward Scott Wilson and a third-round pick in 2018 in exchange for Sheahan, the team announced Saturday evening. The Wings also announced trading defense prospect Ryan Sproul to the Rangers for forward Matt Puempel.
Wilson, who is in his fourth NHL season, had eight goals and 18 assists in 78 games with the Penguins last season. He had three goals and three assists in 20 playoff games as the Penguins won their second straight Stanley Cup.
Sheahan clears $2 million off the salary cap, more than enough to make Friday’s agreement with Athanasiou official. The Wings ended a contract stalemate with Athanasiou with a one-year, $1.3875 million deal.

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2017/10/red_wings_lineup_vs_canucks_sc.html

7 p.m., Fox Sports Detroit

Wings are -145 tonight, -1 is +119

Only a handful of players skated this morning during an optional practice, so line combinations were not available. Here are the Red Wings' projected lines:
Gustav Nyquist-Henrik Zetterberg-Anthony Mantha
Justin Abdelkader-Dylan Larkin-Tomas Tatar
Darren Helm-Frans Nielsen-Martin Frk
Scott Wilson-Luke Glendening-Luke Witkowski
David Booth (expected to be scratched)
On defense:
Jonathan Ericsson-Trevor Daley
Niklas Kronwall-Mike Green
Xavier Ouellet-Nick Jensen
In goal:
Jimmy Howard (starting)
Petr Mrazek

Scott Wilson will make his Detroit Red Wings debut tonight against the Vancouver Canucks at Little Caesars Arena (7 p.m., Fox Sports Detroit).
Wilson was acquired from Pittsburgh Saturday in the trade that sent Riley Sheahan to the Penguins.
Wilson, who has no points in three games this season, is expected to play on a line with Luke Glendening and Luke Witkowski. The Red Wings, looking to end a three-game slide (0-2-1), will start Jimmy Howard in net.
