Grab some basic stuff. Happy to see cherries. Throw them in my basket. Get to the counter the girl says "these cost 17 dollars, still want them". Holy shit. Will the price come down? It was abou two and 1/3 pounds.

What are you doing that far north bro? That isn't far from my wife's school. Next time let me know and we'll meet for a beer at Roger's Roost. Actually no, I try to avoid stuff East of Dequindre for the most part.

North? You mean west? You know my bro lives in Troy. He just had a dog pass. 13 years. I went over. Every time I pass Randazzos I go in. Ever been there? Way better than Ninos. But don't buy cherries

Get your cherries from the Mennonite store in Decker.

I thought i read last year was a banner year for cherries, following historic losses in 2015. NO idea why cherry prices would be up this year.

It is just too early in the season. Most Washington cherries hit the market in June, in May there are a limited number from CA.

Why is Randazzo's >> Nino's?
I think I've been to the one up on Hoover or something.

There's an Italian restaurant down here named that, because it's owned by former pro boxer Marc Randazzo. I think I heard that it closed, though.

Go to Schoenherr and 16. Just go. They also have a full hot meal counter. From prime rib to salmon to pizza to wings to sides.
Produce top notch meat and fish 4 out of 5 stars

I believe there are two separate Randazzo's - Joe Randazzo's (4 locations) and Randazzo Fresh Market (3 locations). You likely went to Joe Randazzo's.WhiteBoyHatcher wrote:Why is Randazzo's >> Nino's?

I am not a big fan of Joe Randazzo's. My comments were directed at the other which is where I believe DWags went although it is at 16 and Garfield, not Scheonherr.
Better prices, better produce. Nino's IMHO, not what it used to be.

I think I've been to the right one....just Randazzo's. 22 and Hayes. It's nice. Haven't done any real shopping there. Have gone to try their pizza (very good) and check out meat cuts.

I'll have to give Vince and Joe's a look.

Also, 13 and Schoennher and 16 and Garfield, as mentioned are the two other locations. Wags was drunk last night.

My Italian family on the east side concurs with this.
I think. At least I'm pretty sure that's their preference. It's been awhile since I quizzed their shopping habits.

it's fairly well known that if you want young cherries.. early in their ripening phase.. a lavish luciousness.. with a hush of innocence and a scent born in the twilight between heaven and Earth.. it will usually cost you,

Miami, thanks for that compelling story about Randazzo's now-closed Italian restaurant. It kept me hooked and thinking for at least 3-5 seconds.

I didn't have much time but because I'm somewhat of a spazz I went to Randazzo's today after the gym to pick up lunch. Had to be in and out in < 10 minutes. Settled on a couple of sushi trays. It was delish. You guys are right, it's a very nice store, nicer than Nino's. It's rare that Macomb has an advantage over Oakland in anything but I will concede this one.

I honestly haven't been in Randazzo's in a while, but I'm not kidding about Vince & Joe's. Take a trip up to 25 & Van Dyke sometime. I pretty much jizz when I get within 10' of the meat counter.

WBH, please stop using the term delish. Just hearing it makes me want to hit things. Besides, if you don't stop now, you're one or two Rachel Ray shows away from using totes adorbs.

I like both Ran and vince and Joe's. The one on 22 and Hayes is where I go to, since that's pretty close to where I live. Best place to buy producce and I get my kielbasa from there.
Didn't know about the cherries though. That's insane. I wouldnt buy them either.

Never been to the Hayes Randazzo but use to hit 13 & Schoenherr often because it was on the way home from work. Place was decent. Usually good produce and meat. Deli counter was good too. Seafood selection was lacking...less than half what Nino's offers.
That Randazzo's is pretty small with no room to expand. Have not been there in a couple years but in general, Nino's produce and meat/fish are superior. On the other hand, Nino's prices are stiff.
WBH. Next time you're farting around checking out grocery stores, hit the Hayes Randazzo first, then 13 Mile & Schoenherr. Please report back.

Re: I go to randazzo's on 16 and Schoenherr (Garfield-- it's GARFIELD)
I went to Vince and Joe's to grab lunch today after the gym. I was not very impressed with the one on Garfield and whatever. It was small, the aisles were small and there were 80,000 old people in there stopping every 3 feet and blocking the way. They had nice stuff, but selections were quite small - produce, meat, seafood, etc. The fresh market grill or whatever they're calling the hot food was nice but too crowded for me to navigate. I was going to grab sushi but it all had some cream sauce drizzled over the top of it. I left irritated and ate at some sushi joint off Hall Rd on the way home. Volcano Sushi. It was quite good.
I will check out the Van Dyke one next time.

You win Floyd. I went to the Van Dyke/25 Vince and Joe's today and it was fucking awesome. It takes the top spot easily over all of the other stores I've been to. Much bigger, the selections were amazing. They had a register at the hot food section so I got a slice of pizza to try it. I got the round NY style pepperoni. It was outstanding. I got some sushi to go and ate that at home. That was very good, as well. There was an amazing selection of prepared meals.
Not like I'm going to go up that way to go shopping very often but I would definitely order out a pizza.
