U2 at the Sphere
Watched a few clips. What an incredible modern venue and hats off to U2 for such a visually compelling show in this new hi-tech venue. I wasn’t wild about them playing without Larry but once you see the place it’s understandable why they didn’t want to pass up the residency. Now their new single Atomic City doesn’t live up to their high standard and I would categorize it as an atomic stink bomb. Hoping they can get back to prime form, get Larry back in the drum seat and that there’s some better music ahead.

Someone I work with went a month or two ago (I think) - she was filling me in on it, but I don't really remember what she was saying (I think she thought I was more interested than I actually was). She seemed to enjoy it.

That’s correct. Looks like they are going to have the dead and co in there next. They are going to have to power wash all the grime and filth off of the sphere.

Eww. There are a number of bands I would pay to see there... not dead.
U2 used to be my most fave... like in 1987. Saw them at the Silverdome. Wasn't even remotely tempted for this.

From Live at Red Rocks up to Zooropa they wrote and recorded at the high level and at some points in that time frame were the best band on the planet. Give some of the concerts a look on YT. The song Zooropa has a really cool visual presentation and they sound great.

U2 hasn't released anything since The Joshua Tree that has done much for me with the exception of:AvgMSUJoe wrote:Eww. There are a number of bands I would pay to see there... not dead.

a) Rattle and Hum - the version of "Bullet The Blue Sky" alone is enough to purchase the entire record..
and..
b) "One" off of Achtung Baby is an all-timer for me..

It's so modern that it consumes enough electricity to power over 20,000 homes.

Re: U2 at the Sphere
Quite a celebrity turnout to the shows at the Sphere.
“ Dre, Katy Perry, Lars Ulrich, Oprah Winfrey, Orlando Bloom, Matt Damon, Snoop Dogg, Jason Bateman, and Paul McCartney.”
Also, they had Lady Gaga do a duet with them. To play in front of Paul McCartney now that’s something else!

Had a business acquaintance who was an electrician, then head of the electrical department , then head of maintainence at Caesar’s Palace. He worked with their design staff to replace the neon with fiber and replaced all the lighting they could with LED when they were comparatively expensive. Said the monthly bill for electricity went from shocking to breath taking. The savings was in labor with 1000 hr bulbs lasting years not months.
Las Vegas has never been concerned about power usage because guests and visitors always foot the bill.

Taking the kid to kindergarten and going to work, unfortunately. I am jealous, enjoy your trip.
