I mean think about what Ralph Nader did to Gore in 2000 in Florida. He got Bush elected.

Yeah, Dems have a long running tradition of tearing down their own. I see lefties ripping apart Biden to the point where they make him out to be the architect of the new Jim Crow because of all his tough on crime bills. You mention to these people that the other guy is locking babies in cages and it doesn't even register with them. We live in some seriously fucked up times.

I like him a lot. Respect the hell out of the reasons why he's running too. He's concerned about the environmental crisis and is doing it for his grand children's future. Also that is a hysterical tweet.

Though provoking op-ed on the candidates people are picking to beat Trump and why. Notes the reason most people are supporting Joe is because they believe he's the best chance to beat Trump but calls out that his policies/ideas don't really excite them. Suggest the best way to beat Trump is to support the candidate who's ideas excite you.

I like Yang a lot. I don't think he introduced himself to America there, though. I would bet that way more people saw him on Joe Rogan's podcast.

Real Time seems to be a powerhouse. It got Brett Easton Ellis' book up to number 1 on the best seller list.

Also, this just came out -

A woman can beat Trump. Just not a white one. Ask Hillary. Granted she was flawed bit Warren has some "unlikables". I don't see a scenario where the minority demographic would be excited enough to vote for her. But right now she's my first choice.

I just hope that people just vote for their favorite candidate and leave conversations about electability and all that shit to the pundit talking heads. People shouldn’t factor that into their vote as the most electable person ultimately is whomever gets the most votes (spoiler alert, they will factor it in.) Of all the candidates out there that are at least polling above 1%, Biden is the one that I’m most concerned about losing the general. I’m fairly sure that the rest would win.

yep - if the good people of America vote, the Democrat - any Democrat - will win.

The inherent risk is folks tuning everything out, becoming numb, because of the noise that is specifically designed by the mainstream media and the racist, bigoted christian sexual predator to suppress the vote.

Biden feels like 2016 all over again. So many blunders already and so much of his past is getting dredged up to attack him. I hope someone else wins it. Also this 'electability' strategy hasn't worked out so well in the past.

The examples she gives are Kerry for one. I’ve seen others throw our Mondale and Clinton. She also gives a few examples for Republicans that lost when they favored electability. I thought this was a good column on the topic.

Do you think Hillary was electable (more than Bernie)?

Would Hillary supporters have voted for Bernie, as opposed to maybe some Bernie supporters that didn't vote for Hillary (against Trump)?

Thanks. Interesting read.

I never thought Hillary was electable in the first place. I saw the Democratic party as having only one agenda, breaking the glass ceiling. There was never anything organic about her campaign for me. The party tried to set her up as the chosen one from the time she ran for the senate in NY. Obama got in the way in 2008. They kept pressing and it cost them in 2016. The right women could have beaten Trump, but it wasn't going to be HRC.

Kerry and Romney are probably good examples.

From the general conversations with "very serious" republicans who hate Trump... I'm surprised they can't get a single credible primary opponent... Or christ, send Bloomberg or Liberman to act as a republican candidate if there are ZERO "conservatives" with a conscious.

But somehow she also lost ground among women and minorities, despite running against a racist misogynist.

But, then, if she didn't have the incredible arrogance and ignorance to assume that states she LOST in the primary would go her way just because she's a Dem, then she probably would have won. It's mind-boggling how bad she blew it.

The excuses you make for her are unreal. There is no excuse, zip, zero, nada, to campaign little to not at all, in states like Michigan and Wisconsin, where her base had already told her that they don't like her, and instead prefer a candidate outside the norm. By ignoring those states, all it did was reaffirm to those people that she is just an elitist snob that takes them for granted.

Maybe if she wouldn't have had the nomination handed to her on a silver platter she would have worked to win the election instead of assuming she had that all locked up too.

The excuses you make for her are unreal. There is no excuse, zip, zero, nada, to campaign little to not at all, in states like Michigan and Wisconsin, where her base had already told her that they don't like her, and instead prefer a candidate outside the norm. By ignoring those states, all it did was reaffirm to those people that she is just an elitist snob that takes them for granted.
it's just my opinion, dude.

You can either say "I'm sad because she didn't campaign here and I'm gonna vote for a racist, bigoted christian sexual predatoror instead who mocks disabled people" or you can vote for her.

I chose to vote for her.

At this point I'm just interested in getting out of this mess. Get back to normal if that's even possible.

No, Bob, those are not the only two options. The sooner people realize this, the better off the country will be.

okay.

FYI - I'm satisfied with the fact that I didn't vote for the racist, bigoted christian sexual predator and, instead, voted for the most qualified person to ever run for president.

You're certainly welcome to your opinions on who you should vote for.

I'm satisfied that I didn't vote for him either. Instead, I voted for someone that I like and respect less than anyone that I've ever voted for for any office. I would normally vote third party if I don't like either candidate, but Trump was just so bad, especially just as a terrible person (apart from politics), that I had to vote against him, rather than for someone.

But your opinion or my opinion doesn't matter more than one vote each. The discussion was about the bigger picture, and you don't seem to understand any better than Hillary did 3 years ago, why significant numbers of people were voting for Bernie.
