Planning on checking out the pitt vs pelini game, a hike if we can find a decent one within 2 hours.

Carson Street is insane. My girlfriend and I went out in Pittsburgh about a month ago when we visited her mom. Had a fuckin blast

Bars we went to:
Carson City Saloon
Skybar (best one by far)
Tiki Lounge
The Southpaw (small dive bar with cool owners. Owned by a Pitt grad. Great wings. Start here and walk along the street to the others)

None of these had any cover on a Saturday night. Not sure about a gameday though

Many choices, depends on what part of town you're in. Church Brew Works is an interesting place, to hit for a beer, brewery in an old church, beer is OK, food is not bad either, but not a long term destination.
Oakland, South Side, Downtown, Pitt area, Shadyside, Lawrenceville, like I said, lots of options.

I don't know much in that area, besides a level 1 trauma center at Mercy, should you need it. Recently was at a place called the Capital Grill down 5th Ave from you, seemed like a variety of places around there, otherwise I'd suggest a going to Lawrenceville, if you can get in a restaurant called Smoke, some of the best BBQ I've ever had, strongly recommend the burnt ends. Across the street is a bar called Industry that was fun, many other choices there.
If you're into the Oktoberfest thing, go across the river to Hofbrau House and hoist some giant mugs.
Lot's to choose from, maybe you can get one of the driverless Ubers to take you around.

The first and last time I went to Pittsburgh I got flown in for a job interview. The cab driver told me the entire town shuts down by 10 pm and it is a family place. I dont know if that was accurate and it was 1995. There were beautiful rolling hills on the way from the airport

Wedding near DC Notre Dame Saturday. Decided to drive there...Pittsburgh both ways.

Have seen Primanti Bros featured on food shows. Is it worth the time? Frankly, stuffing a bunch of french fries in a sandwich seems pathetic.

Knew they opened one in Novi but not worth the drive.

Niece's wedding. BIL grew up in Pittsburgh and is a Penn State alum. Will ask his advice this week.

He and my sis are not happy with the wedding. Might be a memorable trip.

We stopped there on an east coast family trip once. You're right. Not more than average. Not worth going out of your way.
