2017 Fantasy Football
My regular league drafts toward the end of Aug, like usual. 10 teams. QB,WR,WR,WR,RB,RB,WRT,DEF,K,6BN. .5PPR and Yahoo default settings.
Got invited to my work league this season. 10 teams and same roster & bench spots (minus 1 WR position) as the other league. The real difference is the scoring settings
The settings change things up a bit from what I'm use to going into a draft...lot of penalty points to consider. What makes things even stranger is this draft doesn't happen over the course of an hour or two. It starts Monday and done with Google docs. No official time clock for making picks. From what I've been told the draft could take about two weeks to complete, after which the commish enters all the data at Yahoo.
Given the defensive settings above, which round would you pick DEF and which team would that be?

I don't know what to tell you about all of that Pantry. I buy draft buddy now. It's like $17. Plug in all of your league rules and it will spit out the top ranked players. I don't really have the time or energy to stay on top of like I used to, but I still like gambling. And my draft is still a shit ton of fun.

Re: 2017 Fantasy Football
Ok I realize this is gonna fall on deaf ears but it's worth a shot.
Our league lost a team this year. It's a 12 team league, auction draft, one keeper. The keeper available on the vacated team is Le'Veon Bell. Would cost $40 out of a budget of $200 (fake auction dollars).
League fee is $325 with $400 collected up front. Transactions cost $5/per.
Last year the league paid out over $4700. League champs took home > $2700. 2nd place > $1400.
Must be able to attend or send a draft proxy to Royal Oak for a draft on 8/26 at 2 pm. You can have as many dudes as you want on a single team - 2/3/4 is perfectly acceptable. PM me if interested.

Draft started today. 10 teams. Slow going so far. One guy has been unable to figure out google sheets on both his phone and computer. Commish had to manually enter his first pick (#8) and we're now stuck on him again going back down the snake.
Took Le'Veon with the 2nd overall pick. Guy that picked 1st took Brady. Five QBs taken in the 1st round...Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Wilson, Luck, in that order.

I'd take cousins or Stafford over the last three listed. Probably big Ben too

Re: 2017 Fantasy Football
My plan is to take play makers first and draft a couple QBs later and ride the hot hand. Had both Stafford and Rivers a couple years ago. Rivers outperformed Stafford most of the season but fucked me in the championship week. Would have won if I played Stafford.aualum06 wrote:The Pantry wrote:Draft started today. 10 teams. Our draft is the Saturday of the 1st weekend of games. Only problem is there's a game on Thursday (before the draft). Commish said we can draft players from both of those teams and their points (already earned) will count.
That should be interesting.

Forgot about Matt Ryan too. That's a bad run on QBs early.

Ryan got picked climbing back down the snake. With Roddy White now retired, I'm hoping Julio stays healthy and Ryan can get the ball to himaualum06 wrote:The Pantry wrote:My plan is to take play makers first and draft a couple QBs later and ride the hot hand. Coinflip, to be honest. Kirk lost DeSean Jackson and a couple of other weapons, and it's going to be interesting to see how Green comes back from his injury.

The names are not listed in draft order. He actually picked 9th first round. Still a stretch but have heard his appeal might push the suspension back all the way to next season.WhiteBoyHatcher wrote:Dude is taking Zeke 3rd with a probably 6 game suspension on the cards?

That was my first reaction.
But, I guess everyone will (somewhat) have the same chance to draft those players. If a kicker or Pats' defense has a big game, they might go a lot earlier.

We tried our draft like that a few years ago and I hated it. Everyone was so busy that nobody was keeping up with it and the commissioner had to keep sending emails out all day to remind people to pick. I just don't have the patience for that. An online draft should never last more than a couple hours imo.

The progress so far. Again, teams are not in draft order in the sheet.
Gonna pick up Captain Kirk next round. Still need a TE. Ebron or Gates? Gates still got it and Rivers loves to throw to him.

Did you read the scoring settings in the OP? They are different from any league I've played. Think I prompted two other players to pick DEF later in the same round.NigelUno wrote:Defense in the 5th Round?

Drafted Jordan Reed last season and got Gates as a backup. Would not draft Reed this season but a co-worker took him in the 4th roundaualum06 wrote:The Pantry wrote:Maybe. Gates is still tough as nails.

The offensive settings are jacked up too. A point for a rushing attempt?
Unless you have some metrics on how to value players (and defenses) using this format, it seems a little goofy. I'm guessing some guys in your league do (but, not the guy who took a kicker in the 6th round).

Draft completed today, taking slightly less than a week. First time I've scored an "A" in any fantasy draft. I kinda like the google sheets draft concept, allowing time to research.

His knee got hit sideways. I don't think he's seriously hurt, though. He walked off with little limp. They are claiming an ankle but I'm guessing he will get an MRI done and they will confirm no knee damage.

If you take Cousins, Stafford, or Big Ben over Brees, you deserve to lose. That's bad fantasy-ing right there.
