I just finished it. Regardless of ideology I implore anyone that’s interesting in politics to read that. It’s not about my side or your side but more about how shit really works (outside of cable news hot takes) with undertones of how we got here. It’s really good swill friends. Worth the time.

Yeah nothing better than watching Joy Reid bully her and not allow her to speak.   That's Democrat for "winning the argument".

This is the type of thing should draw white men back to the party.

Goose is all wound up because a connie was making points not based on fact and got called on it.

So everyone who goes on a political talk show and has zero response except “but” when they are presented with facts that blow their bs story to demonize losing candidate Clinton out of the water it’s bullying.

It was clear the Washington Examiner reporter was there to push the Clinton / Russia uranium story and the host stopped the the bs before it got started in short order. There was no there there.
Truth hurts, facts are mean.

Couldn't help but notice there was no denial of what the MSNBC host said to stop the uranium / Clinton story in its tracks.

Your party is actively attacking pretty much all of the hard sciences. I'm sorry that someone is out there promoting them.

I will note that Nye is so fucking hard core left that I had to turn off his new show on Netflix. Was way too preachy. Just stick to making science fun.

This happens every time Bill Nye does an AMA on reddit. It's pretentious to accuse someone of not being able to intelligently discuss science just because they lack a masters degree or PhD in a field of science. Bill Nye openly admits to not being a scientist.

I think he's done a great job in his career making science fun and engaging for people. He's being targeted because of his political activism regarding climate change, and maybe jealousy from a few butt hurt "scientists" stuck in a research lab somewhere.

1. You imply Nye is not qualified to discuss climate change because he does not have the necessary academic credentials.
2. Extending this logic, people are required to have the necessary academic credentials about a subject before weighing in about that subject publically.
3. You quite often weigh in about a range of subjects discussed in tBin. In doing so, you often talk down to people (who also talk down to you) while making definitive claims.
4. Applying your logic means you must have the necessary academic credentials to present such definitive claims.
5. It is not me dodging, but more you avoiding application of your logic to your posts.
6. With this logic, you do not have to claim expertise. The extent to which you participate, based on your logic, automatically suggests expertise.

Some reading on a subject that should interest many of you.....unless you're only interested after a tragedy.

5 Reforms To Gun Laws That Would Actually Make A Difference

Under the Grassley-Cruz bill, a domestic abuser who lied on an application about his criminal record would face swift and harsh prosecution, ultimately leading to incarceration.

While failing a background check denies a legal gun purchase, this legislation would more strongly deterred lying by prioritizing prosecution for prohibited persons attempting to get guns. Violent criminals already willing to lie on official forms or willing to kill are also willing to illegally obtain weapons if they are denied. This bill would have put them in prison before they sought a black market gun to carry out their evil plans.

Unfortunately, Democrats filibustered this bill, so it died with 52 votes. Lying on federal forms is a felony, but the Obama administration was reluctant to prosecute such cases. According to Cruz, “In 2010, 48,000 felons and fugitives lied and illegally tried to purchase guns. They prosecuted only 44 of them.”

And a news story from back then...
Wonkblog Senate bill to extend background checks killed by filibuster

Meanwhile, an alternative Republican gun bill by Chuck Grassley and Ted Cruz that would have provided funding for gun-crime prosecutions, school safety, and mental health — but placed no new restrictions on gun ownership — was killed by a Democratic-led filibuster. That amendment received 52 votes, not enough to move forward.

Remember that the next time you hear that Rs vote against all gun regulations.

So pass weak piecemeal legislation that is a one band aid at a time approach.

That would be the same US Senators that oppose sharing any state databases of gun purchasers, oppose a national database, oppose immeadiate registration of all gun sales, oppose restricting sizes of magazines to 10-12 shots and oppose outlawing the sales of items like "bump stocks" that make semi-automatic weapons rate of fire nearly equal to fully automatics.

Your 1st 3 items are all the same thing. Gun Registration - a complete non starter.
Find me one Senator on the record opposing restricting bump stocks?

So your position is to pass things that no one will support (National Gun Registration) and not to pass the doable. Solid logic. So like the Dems in the Senate you prefer to grandstand over passing legislation. No surprise.

Also can you tell us how state and national databases will help stop criminals since they won't be participating?

Of course gun registyration is a complete non-starter because protecting the unborn is very important but while we are required to register vehicles, watercraft and trailers God forbid we start registering guns.

That would viotlate our rights to kill the born citizens.
