What do you guys think of my film concept:

Post by gHost Spartan on Tue Nov 14, 2017 1:32 pm

I had a really cool concept for a film - a lonely, outlier misfit outdoorsy type, frustrated with society; he’s unable to connect with women and becomes withdrawn, and decides to move permanently into the wilderness (location undermined). He goes out into the wilderness with a very large pack, a rifle, knives, some tools - the idea is to build a shelter far, far away, only occasionally returning to the fringes of civilization as needed.

One night, while camping in a very remote area, he sees and hears explosions in the sky. The following day, while trekking through the wilderness, he finds an injured, tiny alien (maybe three feet tall). Now he’s faced with a number of dilemmas: use his emergency location beacon to contact authorities, report the alien; help and rescue the alien, or leave the alien and continue his journey.

Ultimately, he cares for the alien even though they are unable to communicate. After approximately one week of arduous trekking through the wilderness, the alien dies. He continues his journey after burying the alien. There’s almost no dialogue in the film, just non-verbal interaction between the alien and the man. And lots of really cool scenery.

Not bad. Can't be any worse than the trash Hollyweird is currently churning out.

It would be better if after a week the alien eats the dude and carves him up with his own knife.

I mean, the first thing with pea soup is the texture, okay?
I've had watery pea soup, it's AWFUL.
Uh, I've had gelatinous, thick pea soup, it's TERRIBLE.
Pea soup, much like clam chowder, needs to have that consistency first, that you can stand the spoon up in it, but the spoon soon tilts, that's the consistency you want.
Number two: Uh, pea soup on it's own can be a little bland. It wants, uh, a fairly aggressive peppering and salting.
Number three: Pea soup needs a fine dice of ham. Not bacon, not any other meat, not turkey. It needs a fine dice of ham.
Uh, number four: Uh, pea soup scorches easily. You don't wanna heat it on a high heat. You wanna heat it on medium low, just until it's warmed through.
Uh, number five: Pea soup is best made, uh, by hand, not out of a Campbell's can. And the key to pea soup, you want a ham bone, uh, for the stock you make, uh, to, to boil your peas.

Sounds kind of like brokeback mountain meets ET.

Why the fuck does he have an emergency beacon?  I mean, I can suspend disbelief as much as the next guy, but he's building this shack way the hell away from everything with tools and shit, he only plans on going to the fringes of the woods for whatever, and then bam, just incase he's got this emergency location beacon.

Give him a cannon that shoots flames like 80 feet in the air.   That would be more realistic.

Also, if he's built this place way the fuck out in the wilderness, why then,  did he leave it to go camping in even a more desolate area?  Why didn't he just build his shit in the place he went camping?  Was he like taking a vacation from his shack he built in a desolate area to go to an even remote area to camp so he could get away from the lack of people that didn't even live by him anyway?    Couldn't he just hear and see the explosion from his desolate shack he built.

These are questions we need answered first.  Unless maybe you plan on a prequel after this has smashed box office records.

Also, will there be teenagers looking for the blair witch shit that maybe he can run into at least once?  That might spice it up a bit.

What's the reason an audience would want to sit and watch this hiker and the alien?

I'll bet we could get Kevin Spacey to voice the alien.

It also needs a surprising twist.  Like maybe he comes accross a buried box. In that box he finds an old movie camera.  he's good with tools and he somehow develops the film.  The film shows not only a second shooter, but a third one in Dallas on 11/22/63.   You can clearly see the second shooter was John McCain as a young man.

Obviously I didn't summarize the plot effectively - the shelter has not yet been built. The hiker is going out to build his shelter - it's not yet been built. The emergency beacon represents his inability to truly free himself. It's much more symbolic than anything else. Let's throw in that his mother is very ill and despite his intent to abandon society and live off the land, he still needs something... I'm okay with developing that part of the story more. But keep in mind that the film itself will have very little dialog and a lot of the interpretation will be left for the viewer's imagination, especially what the fuck the explosion was and how the alien got to the location where he was found.

During the sex scene are we going to show a full-on alien rogering or should we just have a classy cutaway to the campfire or the recluse's horse or something?

When the recluse find the alien we should work in the line "well... Mr. Trump's gonna need a bigger wall to keep you out." Then the recluse looks directly at the camera and winks.

Ghost you should have a cameo as the small town sheriff who gives the recluse a ride through town as a not-so-subtle way of letting the guy know that his kind isn't welcome around here.

Unfortunately I can't claim credit for JacksonMike, who I think is one of the best all time RCMB schticks. Kudos to whomever created that schtick and the movie, which I thought was hilarious.
