Sorry to report that I have confirmed Lemmy @myMotorhead has passed away just now at the age of 70. RIP to a true original icon of rock.

I knew he'd been sick but didn't know he was this close. I 1st saw Motorhead in Oct '86 at Harpos in Detroit, a wild show. Seen them 4-5 times since.

Re: RIP Lemmy.
I follow him on Facebook he left a tweet a while back saying he has his up days and down days. They had to cancel a few gigs because of his health but they were still doing it. So you them with Phil and Fast Eddie Clark?
I've felt like most metal acts are WAY past their prime but when I saw Motörhead they sounded like a fine tuned engine. They still had it.

No - they were both gone at that point though Phil came back and I saw them with him later. At the 86 show it was Wurzel, Wizzo, Pete Gill and Lemmy.

And I agree on most old acts, not much juice left. Supposedly tomorrow is the day for the GnR reunion to be announced the only mystery is if it's with Adler or Sorum on the drums. I have very little interest in seeing them, especially at the prices they'll be charging.

Re: RIP Lemmy.
There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it’s way down the street, with his family.
We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren’t words.
We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please…play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy’s music LOUD.
Have a drink or few.
Share stories.
Celebrate the LIFE this lovely, wonderful man celebrated so vibrantly himself.
HE WOULD WANT EXACTLY THAT.

I saw GNR on the Use Your Illusion tour with Metallica. I thought they were just awful. I wish I had seen them during Appetite For Destruction. To me they were like The Sex Pistols, the worlds best band for a few years and left one perfect album and nothing will ever recreate that magic.

Pretty close to true. I still remember walking into my house drunk one night and seeing their show at the Ritz - bought Appetite the next day. Of course that was back when MTV still actually played music....including Rock.
This show still holds up and a great document of them at or near their peak.

I know that gig frontwards and backwards. The story about the black man that comes up to them and goes 'you know where you are?' fucking sets up Welcome To The Jungle so perfectly.
They seriously were at the apex of rock and roll. Probably impossible to sustain that level this day and age, but I loved that shit. My friend compares Axel to the White Michael Jackson. He's completely out of his gourd. I could have seen Axel play in Brooklyn at a small venue and a I passed on it. I saw Dick Dale play there that summer, he fucking tore the place up. He's like Lemmy - so pure and still delivers the goods.
