Kids names your baby momma/daddy shot down

Post by kingstonlake on 2018-04-16, 17:34

Pantry triggered my memory with Carrera....

I wanted to name out daughter Tuuli (pronounced 2 Lee). I worked that shit for months....denied. We were sold on Sophia til we figured out everybody and their brother was naming their daughter Sophia. At the last minute she said what do you think about Irelyn? I said it's not as nice as Tuuli but I don't hate it, lol. Irelyn it is.....

My parents let my brother and sister name me. They were cool with the first name, but nixed their choice of a middle name for me. It would’ve been cool to be a Higgins.

Hubby wanted Sierra. But I have a cousin named that (who I barely know). I still didn’t want it.

I don't know what my parents were thinking when they named me Dickfist. Sort of a rough childhood and professional life. I would have rather been named Sue.

I wanted Elihu for one of my sons - lost. Tried the power of suggestion for the grandson - lost.

I remain winless.

Maybe you were an accident. Your dad probably didnt realize he could get your mom pregnant just by dropping his man-pudding on her lady parts. It’s kind of cool if you think about it; like Luke Skywalker hitting his target to blow up the Death Star.

My wife had a number of miscarriages before our daughter was born, so we put off discussing baby names until she was reasonably far along and we knew we were having a girl.

We were driving from Michigan to New York through Canada and Sarnia struck me as a unique girls name. The wife shot down that one fairly quickly.

First one I wanted a boy and I was going to name him Walker Reagan. Got a girl - I wanted a Z name. So she's Zoe Alexandra.

Second one I didn't GAF. She's Kathleen Suzanne after our mothers

Wife got to name our 1st daughter. Picked a female name derivative of a male relative in her 100% Italian heritage. Cool name.

Was my choice to pick the name of our 2nd child. Was driving her to Crittenton for the impending birth when I suggested Carrera as a girls name, neither of us knowing the sex at the time. Funny thing is the wyff liked my 2nd suggestion. However, bitch that she will always be, insisted on an Italian spelling of the name rather than the Nordic spelling I wanted.

Have never told anyone the inspiration for my 2nd daughter's name. A secret I will take to the grave.

I took several days after I was born for my parents to name me. They assumed I was going to be a boy after 4 previous boys. My mom liked the name Clarissa. My dad shot it down. And one of my brothers named me.

My mom tells the story that, being a teenager in the 50s, she wanted to name me Tab after the teenage heartthrob actor Tab Hunter.

I breath a sigh of relieve ever time I think about that. The jokes would have been endless.

Not that I'm a big fan of what they stuck me with anyway.

A friend fosters helper dogs while they are going through training. She's a 2nd grade teacher and taking the dog to school everyday is important for the training. When she gets a new dog she lets the kids name them. The class decided on Spiderman for her last dog. She was able to get them to go along with Peter Parker, or Pete.

Name ideas for our daughter would get pretty funny at times. My MIL speaks virtually no English, so there are a lot of names that when she hears them, they remind her of some term in Spanish. So there were so many names that we'd say, and she'd turn it into sounding like something or other either in Spanish. But it's good perspective to have.

We also wanted a name that she could pronounce. There are some Latins that will try to give their kid a very gringo name, and then the grandparents can't pronounce it. Like we know these people that named their kid Matthew. His grandmother pronounces it kind of like Mah-chew. Sounds like she's sneezing when she calls him. Seems like the grandmother should just call him Matteo or something, but this family are a bunch of idiots.
