Rained hard and heavy here last evening.  Got a flash flood warning on my phone.  All seemed fine when I went to bed.  Woke up around 2am to pee and noticed my bedroom fan was off...power was out.  Looked out the window to see homes on the other side of the street had power.  Called it in to DTE.  Looked up their outage map on my phone.  There were only a couple small areas around Detroit without power, including mine.  Power was still out when I went to work.

Kept checking the map throughout the day.  Checked when leaving work and it was still out.  Passed 3 DTE boom trucks in my sub.  Got home and the garage door opener thankfully worked.  Second time in a month power has been out here for an extended period of time after it not happening at all the last 10 years.

Supposed to be moving into our new building in less than a month.  The new property sits less than 50 yards from Plumbook Creek, which is notorious for flooding in heavy rain as are others in the local drainage system.  Our marketing chick showed us some drone aerial pics taken today.  Though our new building didn't get flooded, the creek should be renamed Lake Plumbrook.  Don't buy a pickup from Sterling Heights Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram (Van Dyke...on the other side of Lake Plumbrook) for a while.  You know how high new pickup beds are.  There were 20-30 pickups in their back lot that had water over the tailgate.  Lot of water.

Take a drive down London... Still flooded over the curb.

We didn't lose power but I was at a ninja warrior thing with some other parents from Cub scouts tonight and a bunch of them did. One on London had their basement flood and gutters overflow and it started coming through their roof into their house.

Daughter in law bought a Cadillac that I'm pretty sure got pulled out of a flooded area and then resold here in Michigan. Nothing but problems with it.

Might be with the temperature difference with all the pee in the water.

(FWIW, the now deceased grandparents used to live on St. Clair... Used to go fishing with gramps. He would set up just outside of the traffic to see all of the bikini ladies. Once said something about all of the titties on the lake. He was probably 85 at the time. Funny AND disturbing.)

this weather fucking sucks.

As fall advances, temperatures are supposed to get cooler. The upcoming upper-air flow doesn’t look like the rush to fall will be on in the next two weeks.

All forecast time periods are coming up warmer than average, and not only in Michigan and the Great Lakes. Most, if not all, of the U.S. is expected to be warmer than normal through the first few days of October.
