Well, it’s working.
With that being said, let’s save the bullshit and not act like voting means you’re not getting bent over.

People under 30 their taxes for their entire life are going to go towards paying off interests on national debt. Tell me in 20+ years how not voting worked out for your generation.

Fair enough. I find most things on tv racist, and I don't fault anyone for choosing not watch a show if they feel that.

Whitmer still polling comfortably ahead of Schuette - but, if you believe polling and the mainstream media, he's made up some ground. I think there are 2 gubernatorial debates? Should be interesting.

Spending on what has and is always the key.
Do we spend on public education, social safety net programs, infrastructure or build $95M fighters and other military hardware.
Voting may also elect a Congress that's not eager to pass tax laws that cut government revenue and also limit deductions for state taxes.
That's why you vote.

Re: tOfficial 2018 Midterm Election Thread..
Been harping on this for years. The myth of the lazy nonvoter.
The GOP has put up roadblocks to reduce access to the polls for populations that tend to vote democrat. The democrats have done nothing about it because the GOP messaging is better and people believe that nonvoters are not voting because they don't want to. That's bullshit.
Democrats need to take over the government with the roadblocks that are in place, which means big participation. Then the left of the party needs to take over the Democrats and make big changes to things like Gerrymandering, voter ID, and the electoral college. The GOP has a built in advantage with the senate giving 2 to every state, having majorities in nearly all the flyover states, and the house districts being drawn by the majority in states. Otherwise, there will never be a true progressive majority in the government (which would reflect the population by the way - 60% of Americans lean more progressive than conservative, and yet... this is the government we have).

Once all the racist old people die, progressive folks might stand a chance - but the young electorate needs to engage. That has a lot to do with parenting and how children are raised, what they value.

So we'll have even less people going to the polls.

America leans left - but the GOP and mainstream media do everything they can to suppress the vote.
Not blaming them, necessarily - I mean, nobody ever accused either entity of doing what's best for America - and people are wilfully stupid.

Whitmer is hovering around anywhere from 8-10 pts ahead of Schuette.. that seems a little high, though I do think she'll win.. I suspect by 3-5% or so.
apparently there is a debate this Friday - though I can't imagine why someone would want to watch such a thing.

Ex student is a Bishop campaign worker or some such shut. I don’t know his exact job. . Kid was a weasel in high school. Ratted people out for weed possession and other things. I friended him on Facebook a few years ago. Seems the type to be a campaign type guy. Not out in front but a little weasel behind the scenes. Don’t know if he’s changed but he was a source in high school for information if shit was happening.

I like Slotkin's stance on healthcare and valuing life - otherwise, she is pretty right-leaning.
The district is incredibly gerrymandered all the way to Howell (KKK territory). Bishop probably wins by 3-5 points.

In northern Michigan it's all about LIEUTENANT GENERAL Jack Bergman. In case you missed it, he was a LIEUTENANT GENERAL. Probably shouldn't be politicizing service but in case you missed it and in commercials he's a LIEUTENANT GENERAL.

Democrats have a 53-42 percent edge in the generic ballot for the House. But inside the 66 districts that are tossups, or only leaning, that lead evaporates into a 46-47 D v. R race.

This is why turnout has to be great. It just has to be. The R's have a huge organizational advantage and are ready. This election is a turning point in American history. That can't be overstated.

Dems suck. I'm going to vote straight ticket dem but watching the ads in my district from the dems vs their Republican opponents I can see why one side wins and the other loses. The messaging is weak and the candidates are just a bunch of weenies.
Also, regarding the dems I appreciate that they are sticking to the issues in their ads (the ads I see) but I just don't think people really care about the issues.

I mean, yeah. Duh. That’s what that tweet is saying. If you’re going to isolate only the close races, the more interesting question is of those races which party are the incumbents from? This will show you, with slightly different total numbers of what’s considered a toss up, the ones in the middle are almost entirely republican held seats.

(seriously)
I understood it as Democrats having this overwhelming "excitement" factor but, when you examine districts that are considered "toss ups", they're going to have to be exponentially "excited" to overcome the inherent disadvantage of the gerrymandered district.

Republican taking on Sen. Stabenow has to apologize for having a swastika in his campaign ad..
Caution: Mainstream Media Link
In a brief shot, roughly 10 seconds into the ad, a swastika appears tacked to a bulletin board in a hallway of an unidentified school. It wasn't clear if it was part of a school history project or something else, but the campaign said it was from stock footage.
Democrats and liberal groups complained that James, a Farmington Hills businessman and Iraq War veteran, was promoting a symbol of hatred as he seeks to unseat incumbent Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow of Lansing, who is running for a fourth term.
"We should have caught this error and we didn’t, and there’s no excuse," he said at a Monday afternoon press conference.
