He just did a small standup tour on all the talk shows as ron burgundy. I thought both the stand up routines and the subsequent interviews with the hosts were hysterical. I watched the Colbert and Conan ones. I never saw his episode in comedians in Cars...I will watch it tonight.

The worst episode by far was kinda like this with that girl (I have no idea who she is) that was acting really put off with the whole thing. I didn't laugh once and was the only one I turned off.

I have mixed feelings about him. He’s a very talented interviewer and he gets his guests to open up about stuff they wouldn’t talk about anywhere else. He’s kind of the original Joe Rogan where his interviews play out like conversations. Outside of that I think he’s a terrible person. Does really mean shit and isnt very funny.

Forgot to mention I watched Bridge of Spies over the weekend. Excellent movie. Very interesting. Not surprised the actor who played Rudolf Abel won the Oscar, but then again, I don’t know who else was nominated in the supporting actor category.

I finally saw Boogie Nights. For some reason a movie was about a porn star with a big dick never really appealed to me but I finally got around to watching it. Thought it was a mediocre film. Kind of crazy seeing John C. Reilly in it. He looks completely different. The best thing about the film was Burt Reynolds.

Some of these Comedians in Cars episodes...I just can't even comprehend how ridiculous it would be to see Jerry and Kevin Hart. Or Barack Obama. Or Jerry and Eddie Murphy. Roll up to a breakfast joint. The Chris Rock episode. Jerry gets pulled over. Rock is making all kinds of hilarious DWB jokes, and they show the officer come up and ask for license and registration. But can you imagine that guy when he realizes he just pulled over Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock? Unfortunately they didn't show the good stuff. The episode basically ended there.

I saw this one OTPT. Just goes to show that no matter how wrong/bad a company is, someone is always willing to work for them if they pay enough. I mean there is a lot of shady shit that went down, but that is the basic premise, so there won't really be stopping anything that Cambridge Analytics did, now that Pandora's Box has been opened.

Don't be so judgemental that she was whacked out of her mind the whole time. I like how the CFO tried to act like he had no idea what was going on and that the company wasn't that bad. I did think the journalist suing in the UK was a pretty brilliant move.

SPOILERS AHEAD!

Finished the series. I liked it. Not sure what to make of Black Noir, he had so little screen time and never talked. Pretty good on the piano though. Since Homelander likes him he's probably a horrible person. I'm assuming we'll see a lot more of him in season 2.

So is the Seven shut down now? Who would be the day to day supervisor? Gus from Breaking Bad is about to retire. Maybe with Elizabeth Shue getting fucking lasered it'll keep him around a bit longer. Also, who the fuck is left? You got Homelander & Black Noir. Invisible guy is dead, The Deep is patrolling lake Erie, A Train has a jacked up leg (maybe, it seemed to heal awfully quick) and a heart that's about to explode, Maeve seems like she's done with Homelander's shit, and Starlight has gone rogue. They need to do some serious recruiting if they want to keep the A list super heroes at seven.

I like that they keep all these super heroes grounded in reality for the most part.

Just finished Season 1 too. They got the "brutal" down, that's for sure. Like when "i see dead people" guy got his face bashed in, etc.
As for a show, so far so good. Entertaining.

Starting season 2 of Mindhunter now.

Season 2 is quite a bit different from season 1. I won't go into details since you're just starting, but don't expect the same type of show this time around.

You have a lot of questions and I don't have any answers, but we're allowed to speculate, right?
Maybe Homelander goes rogue and his 'son' starts to take his place. The son and Starlight could re-start the 7. There are also a bunch of unknown super-villians out there now. I had more, but accidentally did some work and came back to this post not being finished.

Assuming A Train survives his heart attack he's going to tell Homelander that she's helping The Boys now. If it plays out like that there's no way she'll be part of that group again. So the Boys have her on their side as well as the Asian chick who's basically Wolverine. I don't think them alone will be able to stand up to everything that (the name of the company she works for is slipping my mind) can throw at them. They'd have to do their own recruiting... or juice themselves up with that Compound V stuff.

Homelander going rogue makes sense. He's a fucking nutball and he seemed to like Butcher even though he was trying to kill him. Maybe he'll give up on the seven and just travel the world fighting super villians of his own creation just for fun. I dunno.

Amazing scene.  I've seen it a ton, and probably not for over a decade, but I think I still have Nicholson's monologue tirade memorized.  This is 100% from memory, without really giving it much thought....

You can't handle the truth!  Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns.  Who's going to do it, you?  You, Lieutenant Wienberg?  I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom.  You weep for Santiago and you curse the Marines.  You have that luxury.  You have the luxury of not knowing what I know, that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives.  And my existence while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives.  You don't want the truth, 'cause deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you WANT me on that wall, you NEED me on that wall.  We use words like honor, code, loyalty.  We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something.  You use them as a punch line.  I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it.  I would rather you just thank you and be on your way.  Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand at post.  Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!!!

I may have a word or two off, but I think I'm still pretty damn close.

Sad, I know.  There was a time when my buddies would ask me to recite it, which helped it stick in my head, I guess.  That's nothing compared to Tombstone, though, where I can recite probably 90-95% of the entire movie word for word.  I'm not typing that out to prove it, though.

Edit:  As soon as I hit send, and without looking it up, I realized that I forgot the part about having the greater responsiblity, to the grotesque and incomprehensible part. I added that (also from memory). Damn, I must be getting old to have let that slip.

It's a great film. Even Tom Cruise's bit where's he drunk and talks about the galactically stupid still holds up. I hadn't seen it in over a decade as well, and it still has the power to suck me in. It was the wifes first time ever seeing it and she loved it too.

We also wiki'd the film after watching it and there was a Jack Nicholson quote. I guess he made $5 million for that film and his remark was that was money well spent for them. It really was they got a timeless performance out of him.

Damn, I must be getting old to have let that slip.

anyone watch The Affair??

I don't do a ton of TV (not for any sort of moral reason.. mainly because I have the attention span of an espresso-riddled gnat).. but it's one show that I really dig. The season premiere was this past Sunday.

Toying with the idea of sitting through Black Swan, because — you know — Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman.

And by toying you mean diddling yourself, right?

"Toying" I suppose is a capable euphemism.

You’re still watching that shit? I lost interest by season 3/4. Was great early though.

I like that movie, Greenway. Not just for lesbo action. It is a typical Aronofsy though. Probably actually the only one I really enjoyed.

Well, it’s not going to diddle itself, will it Joe?

first couple of seasons were really good. Last season wasn't bad at all. The season premiere was okay, but there is a futuristic storyline in it that didn't really grab me.

so we'll see.
