Wide Receivers Empty Wide Receivers

Post by steveschneider on 2019-08-22, 09:56

Do we have any pro talent at this position? Will they be able to get any separation from the defense and will our QB be able to get the ball to them.

Hoping we've modernized the offense. The days of lining up and running up the middle are over.

The offense just lined up in a formation where it's obvious to me they are going to run it by where the running back is standing.

I started this one to hear some analysis. You and Dwags are probably the only two I can think of that pay attention. From what I've seen the big question for our offense is if the receivers will have break away speed.

Well supposedly the offense is going to be "modernized" under Salem. They are keeping it under heavy wraps during camp and the players aren't really even allowed to talk about it. What that means is anyone's guess. I think it will be more up tempo for sure.

And yes I would think the WR position group should be a strength on this team. Cody White has indicated that they're getting more separation than they were in years' past under Coach Warner and Coach Samuel. White and Darrell Stewart should be co-WR1s as they're both capable upper classmen. Jalen Nailor has dropped some weight and has track speed and should be your WR3. After that you have Laress Nelson, who Joe Bachie said is the hardest guy on the team to tackle. Cam Chambers is always reliable and I've heard good things about C.J. Hayes. New to the group that might get on the field this year - stud recruit Julian Barnett who is repping on the Offensive side of the ball, and speedster Tre Mosley. None of the above guys will see the field though if Brandon Sowards does what I expect him to do. He is capable of playing X, Z and slot. At the same time.

I'll believe this when I see it. Dantonio is Saban/Tressell taught. His whole fucking Philosophy is to have a ball control shorten the field win with defense type thing. I was still doing camps when TJ Ducket was coming in. I'm telling you he was pushing for him to be a college linebacker like nothing else. He should have been DC before Cosh or Bill Miller. If he had, we would have never seen the Duckett game vs. Michigan. I mean, what I'd give to see TJ rounding the corner and the absolute unmitigated fear in the UofM's DB's eyes. Just one more run. By far my favorite in game viewing pleasure was watching how those DB's were trying to figure out how to tackle him without actually touching him. T

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see this. However, if it does happen, the biggest change will be with Dantonio himself. When you have a defense like we do, I would take all kinds of chances on offense. Show both sides of the ball your faith in them.
