Saw a bunch of headlines about it.
They looked awfully white.. which explains all the headlines. I suspect there is more to the story.

Ok Bob. Boo matter how white or not this family is, 3 women and 3 or 4 children were killed. Although I suspect some type of foul play, killing women and children is cowardly. Right now there is a lot of blame on Mexico, and if it's cartel related or not, something horrible happened.Robert J Sakimano wrote:Saw a bunch of headlines about it.

Also, I think they're polygamist, which is always a fringe thing in the Mormon church.

for me it's not about the family. It's tragic when any single individual has his/her life violently taken.InTenSity wrote:Ok Bob. My issue is with how it seems like the media magnifies the tragedy because they're white.

Re: The Massacre of an extended American family in Mexico
I guess they were driving to Arizona to pick up relatives and bring them to Mexico for a wedding. Just seems odd you have a three car caravan with like 7 kids in tow. These people couldn’t just drive themselves down to the wedding?
Something isn’t adding up.

Heard that the racist, bigoted christian sexual predator is mourning the tragic loss of life.

It will be interesting to see how the mainstream media/GOP narrative changes if weird facts about this event begin to come out.

apparently a suspect was arrested.. then released.
you wanna piss off the mainstream media and republicans? Just murder someone in Mexico or Chicago.. that's about the only time they care.

The man arrested near the U.S.-Mexico border was not linked to the suspected cartel massacre of three women and six children, Mexican officials said Wednesday – as authorities appear to be struggling to narrow down which cartel was responsible for the heinous attack.

That group of Mormons have been living in Mexico since 1886 when the US started cracking down on multiple wives

I agree with Kingston.. something doesn't seem right with this whole thing. Seems like they were up to something.GRR Spartan wrote:That group of Mormons have been living in Mexico since 1886 when the US started cracking down on multiple wives

(Disclaimer To Those Looking For Something To Be Offended By: That doesn't mean that I think they deserved to be murdered. I'm just saying something seems off).

Saw the article earlier. It says the sect has a history with one of the local cartel leaders. The LeBaron family has been vocal about curtailing the violence, which led to more violent interactions between the two. Sure seems like an ambush to me, but I agree the caravan seemed odd, unless it was meant to make itself bigger and therefore better at defending itself against unfriendliness.

I don't care how big a caravan is, if it's just a handful of women and a shitload of little kids, it's not gonna deter the cartels.

Its a tragedy but this kind of cartel violence in the Mexican state of Sinoloa isn't a one off.
This group of Mormons has been living in the thick of it since the drug cartels started operating there. If the elders thought they should avoid cartel violence they have had over two decades to move to one of the US states on the north side of the border.

Sounds like the idea that rival farmers may be behind it could be gaining credibility. A number of theories still floating around. Apparently the LaBarons were punching hundreds of wells and reservoirs “droughting” the farmers. They had fired on the farmers who stormed their lands and destroyed crops recently.
