The design doesn't suprise me at all really. It matches perfectly with Mr. Illitch's personality.....exceedingly arrogant and close-minded.

Hockey is meant to be played outside, not indoors. Detroit can perfectly manage an outdoor ice arena. Playing indoors is for pussies.

Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe, Mario Limeaux, Terry Sawchuck, Ray Bourque, Arnold Palmer, Bobby Orr, Patrick Roy, and Alec Delveccio all learned how to play hockey on a pond.

You don't play Basketball outdoors because it was intended to be played indoors. Teams don't usually play Baseball indoors because it was meant to be played outdoors. The same applies to football. So why should Hockey be different?

A frozen pond, cold weather, and a puck. That is what nature intended. That is how hockey is to be played.

I rest my case.

This is an awesome idea. Instead of an arena, a huge pond complete with sliding wooden goals would be a revolutionary grass roots movement in hockey. You could charge huge money for lean-to seating.

Joe Louis Arena looks way better.

I would hoping for more of a classic exterior design reminiscent of Olympia Arena. Something like American Airlines Center instead of the current design that looks like a cheap casino.

At this point I would focus more on the overall layout of the new district than just the architecture of the arena. Probably still a little preliminary at this point.

I think we parked near center ice yesterday.  You can always say one side should get a better deal, but the proposed location currently adds nothing but a place to park.  The view looking west.

Shockingly enough the new Red Wings arena will be named  "Little Caesars Arena".

The Red Wings will get $120 million over 20 years for the naming rights.

It takes the money from the left pocket and puts it in the right pocket

My body is ready.

I mean, the first thing with pea soup is the texture, okay?
I've had watery pea soup, it's AWFUL.
Uh, I've had gelatinous, thick pea soup, it's TERRIBLE.
Pea soup, much like clam chowder, needs to have that consistency first, that you can stand the spoon up in it, but the spoon soon tilts, that's the consistency you want.
Number two: Uh, pea soup on it's own can be a little bland. It wants, uh, a fairly aggressive peppering and salting.
Number three: Pea soup needs a fine dice of ham. Not bacon, not any other meat, not turkey. It needs a fine dice of ham.
Uh, number four: Uh, pea soup scorches easily. You don't wanna heat it on a high heat. You wanna heat it on medium low, just until it's warmed through.
Uh, number five: Pea soup is best made, uh, by hand, not out of a Campbell's can. And the key to pea soup, you want a ham bone, uh, for the stock you make, uh, to, to boil your peas.
