I hope you're questioning the "possible" part. It's pretty clear cut.DWags wrote:I'm thinking they might be into something.

Wow, the Food Court at noon? You'd think somebody would've jumped in to defend the woman.

I don't understand the hate crime specification, seems redundant. This was clearly assault and battery at least, not commonly confused with a display of affection, the perpetrators should have the book thrown at them and any witnesses that stood idly by should be ashamed.

Sorry, sarcasm didn't play well here. I'm saying fucking ay it's a hate crime. No investigation needed. I meant to say "onto" something sarcastically.

Not sure what's to be confused about. If the people went after the woman because of who she is or what she was wearing, that seems pretty clear to me.
But let's wait til all the facts come out. Meridian Twp. PD is notoriously tight-lipped when it comes to, well, everything.

Seems cut and dry to me. But yeah, it's best to wait. There should be an "asshole" crime category. Two guys one girl trying to rip her garb off? The fukc.

Nothing good happens in a mall food court after noon on a Saturday.

By the same logic, if I walked into Walmart wearing my MSU sweatshirt and some fat dude in a soiled maize and blue t-shirt comes up and hits me, would that be a hate crime?, or just assault? and should the culprit be punished differently than if I had on a Red Wings jersey?
The line gets kinda blurry as to whether we are punishing people for what they are thinking instead of their actually actions which are already abundantly illegal and punishable.

I'm sure the staff was prepared, though, what with all of the Chinese fire drills.

While it's true that many of us follow our favorite teams religiously, my guess is you'd have a difficult time convincing Congress to make sports fans a protected class.

Re: The fuk? "Possible hate crime"??
This seems like an easy assault and battery case. I myself don't like the hate crime designation, because malice always exists, and then you go down the road of making some crimes (which are identical in result to others) "more bad" based on the perceived motives determined by the prosecutor. Which, of course, is stupid.
But, until those silly "hate crime" designations exist, let's let these 3 people remain guests of the DOC for an extra 10 years a piece. I'm sure the extra time will teach them to love Muslims (and all other people too).

But it might keep them from procreating, so society wins a bit more.
We don't know why they did it, but at first read, it seems like they did pick on her for her dress. We'll see.

Re: The fuk? "Possible hate crime"??
I was in the mall food court around this time. I even passed this lady as she was sitting near the entrance to the food court watching her small children run around as I was walking out of the mall. I walked out of the mall around that time. I must have JUST missed the assault. Had I been there I'm sure I would have either ended up in jail or the hospital for defending the victim. I feel so bad for her children for having witnessed that happen to her.

Maybe it's the lezbos making fake receipts, or the strippers accusing lacross players of rape. I have reached a point where I prefer to see some proof before I grab a pitchfork. If those crackers did the things described I hope they are punished.

We held one in my back yard last night. Only my wife could make it so we made love and drank Arnold Palmers.

Bob,
I'm surprised you don't like craft beers. I'd think someone like yourself would support local, family owned breweries over massive corporate overlords like InBev.

I've just gotten to the point where the whole craft beer industry seems to take itself a little too seriously - and I don't want to peruse a menu of 100 craft beers and try to decide which one I'm in the mood for. I just want a beer and a few laughs with some friends. If I wanted to put that much thought into something, I'd consider getting another degree.
that's why I order a Hamm's at HopCat the 2-3 times I've been..

Re: The fuk? "Possible hate crime"??
Fair enough. I know what type of beer I like, mainly between DIPA's and Belgian (doubel or tripel), so it doesn't take me that long. If I see a beer I'd like to try and haven't had a chance to, I'll order that. I just find them to be tasty, and a little more refreshing. Granted there are still times in which I'll order a PBR, or Miller Lite, but not too often. I don't see how the craft beer industry takes itself too seriously though, and I'm sure you will find snobs for every kind of alcohol, clothing, sporting, product out there.I don't mind craft beers.. For every snob, you will find someone snobbier.
I am actively resisting that now a days. Used to snob with the best of them. Now I embrace Miller Lite and pop music from the 80s. Wal mart shoes... other stuff.
