Won't matter, a bunch of hard drives will crash deleting forever any emails sent regardless of how many other people received them, and he'll skate on the blame.

Under.
In West Africa, they are looking at 1.4-1.6 million infected by years end, with a 60% mortality rate. That is under the worst conditions possible, with a public very uneducated about how to transmit it and hospitals understaffed, under budgeted and unable to properly treat ebola cases.

Adaptation <> Evolution

Actually mutations that result in higher success rate is exactly evolution.

LOL I love this. Mutation never results in positive changes. Species adapting to environmental conditions in no way supports the idea that they can evolve, or mutate, into another species entirely.

Over time, two isolated populations of the same species, may in fact evolve into two different species. What you have to understand is there are millions of unsuccessful mutations for every beneficial one. Sometimes that beneficial mutation might just be the ability to produce an enzyme that allows for more efficient digestion of a food source, thus leading to a higher success rate. If the enzyme in question is produced as a mutation in the absence of a food source that it can exploit, the mutation has no discernible effect. If the right food source is plentiful however, suddenly (in evolutionary terms) you have an organism that can successfully reproduce with much less effort than its peers. So it's progeny proliferate faster leading to that particular trait becoming dominant in the population. multiply this effect over time, and you have speciation.

Correct in this case because bacterial species are fairly broadly defined and reproduce asexually, but still an example of evolution.

Was talking to a guy who is training in case there is an outbreak in D.C. I asked if it was really the case that you needed to be swapping spit with a carrier.......He said you could get it from coming into contact with a drop of sweat.

Tell your friend to train harder. Â What he probably meant is that they are training to avoid contact with ANY bodily fluids EVEN sweat (just in case), but this is what the WHO says:
The Ebola virus is transmitted among humans through close and direct physical contact with infected bodily fluids, the most infectious being blood, faeces and vomit.
The Ebola virus has also been detected in breast milk, urine and semen. In a convalescent male, the virus can persist in semen for at least 70 days; one study suggests persistence for more than 90 days.
Saliva and tears may also carry some risk. However, the studies implicating these additional bodily fluids were extremely limited in sample size and the science is inconclusive. In studies of saliva, the virus was found most frequently in patients at a severe stage of illness. The whole live virus has never been isolated from sweat.

It's an unfortunate coincidence that the monkeys created this virus and HIV around the same time that humans first successfully fucked with the DNA of a monkey virus.
The monkeys are planning to take over. Those ****ing monkeys and the gay anal ebolAIDS.

My general rule of thumb is if you can't tell me how to cure it or vaccinate for it, don't bullshit me and tell me how you can or can't contract it.

My general rule of thumb is if you contract it while you believe you are wearing "full protective gear", then I don't think you really know what "full protective gear" entails, and therefore, you don't know every possible way this thing is transmitted.

Re: Ebola......
Was talking about ebola last night, the second a case hits NYC the media capital of the world this is going to get huge.
It will bring the city to a halt. No one will ride the subways, the stock market will crash and you will have the 24 hr media cycle spreading panic.
There's a lot of west African communities here its just a matter of time.
