Solich stepping down at Ohio U.
He won around 60 games in his 6 years at Nebraska but they fired him anyway. Then they went in the tank. One of the greediest programs in NCAA football. He made the most of his time at Ohio.

Yeah let's fire our coach who has a .750 winning percentage. It's funny that that the last coach with an over .500 record was Pelini (.713). Another coach fired because of greed. But it comes down to what you're used to I guess. I suppose if you're used to winning 10-11 games a season from a bygone era, you just keep firing people. Right, Michigan?

My first thought was "wow. Mid-July? Odd time to step down". Then I saw the reference to health concerns. Certainly wish him well.
Seems like a decent man.

Solich is 12 years olders than Dantonio who retired a week before his 64th birthday.
Solich had a good run at a school that wanted him. The guy has been a football coach since he graduated from Nebraska in '65 and that's all he wanted to do.
At Lincoln the Huskers are on their 5th AD, today announcing they've hired Trev Albert former Nebraska All American LB who played in the NFL then did TV work for ESPN and was UN Omaha's AD.
They are also on their 4th Football coach since new AD Pederson fired Solich who had a .750 winning percentage when he was shown the door. Currently Scott Frost is 12-20 since 2018.

The guy replacing Solich has been with him 21 years, including 6 at Nebby. That’s a long time waiting for your chance. Hope the future works out well for both of them.

I took a masters class with his daughter. First day we all had to introduce ourselves. She did. The professor asked her if that was her father. When I looked, yep I’m telling you she was wearing her fathers face on a woman’s body. I’ll leave it at that. She was very nice.

Earl Morrall’s daughter Mardi was also an MSU grad. She was a reporter at the local CBS affiliate here. Good at her job, extremely nice, and she wore her dad’s nose quite well.

Speaking of legends, if I haven’t already mentioned it, remind me to tell you about the conversion I had with Denny McLain. We both got a good laugh. Of course, that was before the pensions got raided.

Dammit. Another thread lost to Boomer story time. This is why OTPT doesn't post here anymore.
