The NBA is yet another example of the pussification of America.

Bad Boys beat the Lakers, bad. Stern started changing the rules afterward.

Did you know that today is national hat day? It is. I was going to start a thread for this but that seemed like a lot more work than just replying to one of your comments.

However that old saying "if you take it too far, you ruin it for everyone" might apply here. The Pistons took shit way too far at times. A hard foul vs decapatation might have slowed stern down a bit.

Let me guess - you think the NFL is going soft too? Rolling Eyes

Rick Mahorn and Bill Laimbeer were not harming anybody's brains. Just their self-esteem.

The Pistons averaged 100 points a game that year. That was near the bottom of the league in 1990, but in 2016 that would be close to the middle of the league. 10 years ago, that would have been in the top five. Things are improving, but that was nowhere as close to ugly as things got starting in the late 90s through more recent seasons.

My head hurts. I don't want to play today.

Jordan made him. Put him on the Bucks during that time and does anyone really think he'd be too 50 of all time?

Jordan is the biggest assassin in NBA history. Would have slit Pippen's throat to win another title. He didn't come into that on his own.

It was formed by watching another assassin and by hatred from a team that beat his brains in mentally and physically.

What was cool about that era is that one dynasty led to another. A dynasty came up, had mad battles with the team on top, got beaten down, got closer, and eventually took over the throne. That was a really cool time in sports. You don't see it much any longer in any of the major sports, mostly because of free agency and "bro-hood".

Zeke may not be the best guy ever but god was he competitive. Behind that 6 foot 180 lb frame and fake smile he was the most vicious dude ever, and MJ would not have become MJ without the freeze out and The Bad Boys beating his brains in.

Similarly, Zeke would have probably never developed the resolve he did without running up against Bird, McHale, Magic, Wilkins and Dr. J early on in his career.

Can't really draw parallels in today's NBA, as fun as it is.

Fuck, I'm supposed to be watching Star Wars.

Great post about a great era in the NBA.

I've always thought Zeke and Jordon were the two superstars that won titles without another Hall of Famer on the roster.

No way Pippen is top 50 without MJ. Dumars, Vinnie, Laimbeer etc are footnotes without Thomas.

Magic had Kareem and Worthy. Both Hall of Famers with or without Magic.

Bird had McHale and arguably Parrish.

Give me the early to mid 70's. Especially when the ABA'ers came over. Loved the styles, the play, Lew Alcindor vs Wilt vs Russell and Johnny H. Doc J. Fucking huge naturals. Just classic
