Rivals says MSU has the 3rd best class for 2015...because that really, really, really matters.

With national signing day just days away, Mark Dantonio and the Michigan State football program has something to be excited about. According to Rivals.com, they currently have the 3rd ranked class in the Big 10, with only Ohio State and Penn State ahead of them. In case you are wondering, Michigan is currently ranked dead last in the Big 10. Yeah, I thought that would make you smile.

Andre Rison weighs in on Hunter's recruiting.

Former Michigan State star Andre Rison enjoyed son Hunter's unofficial visit on Sunday

"It's a unique situation, because I went there (MSU) and played football, basketball and ran track, so you cut me open, and I bleed green and white,'' Rison said. "But it's his choice what school he chooses and attends.''

The 2016 Farmington Hills Harrison defensive end committed to Michigan State on Sunday during the MSU men's basketball win over Michigan at Breslin Center and tweeted his decision that night, but his father told Rivals.com today that Kareem will "postpone" the commitment even though he's "99% sure" his son will end up with the Spartans.

"He has always liked Michigan State," Ken Kareem told Rivals.com of Khalid, who has offers from Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Oregon and many others. "He has been a fan since he was young. He loved the atmosphere when he was there (at Sunday's game). He pulled me aside and said, 'This is where I want to play. I want to commit.' I'm letting him take the lead on this, but I told the coaches that we would probably be discussing this more. So this probably isn't a surprise to them.

"But we just want to postpone things for a little while longer and take some visits. But again, I'm 99% sure that he will still end up at Michigan State."

EAST LANSING -- Larry "LJ" Scott was breaking multiple tackles and looking very much like a star in the making when last seen playing football, Jan. 4 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, in the Semper Fi (high school) All-American Bowl.

Scott was back in the spotlight again Wednesday, with many up early to see if the elite tailback from Hubbard (Ohio) High School would indeed sign with Michigan State, even after national champion Ohio State kept recruiting him to the final minute.

Scott, a 6-foot-1, 227-pounder and consensus top 10-ranked tailback, did indeed stay true to the Spartans, and his signing officially kicked off what promises to be a competitive battle for starting duties in the Michigan State backfield in 2015.

"Larry Scott, I gave him five stars, I think he's that good, and I think he can be an impact player,'' CBS sports recruiting analyst Tom Lemming said on "The Griff and Grinz Show" last Friday on Lansing's 92.1 FM. "He's maybe like a Marshawn Lynch type of back; big, physical fast, tough to bring down and he punishes defenders.''

Barton Simmons, of 247Sports, is also high on Scott.

"LJ is such a physical dude at the running back position, I think he really is that workhorse that can wear down defenses and get better as the game progresses,'' Simmons said. "When you look at the Big Ten and the way they feature running backs, this is the kind of guy that could win the Heisman (Trophy) in a few years, because this is the type of a guy you build an offense around. He's really that big of a get.''
