LOL 1950-early 1960's. I've actually run a combine like that when I was a kid.

Written like a recruiting ad for us.
http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/162368/monday-nfl-combine-observations-trae-waynes-turns-on-jets
Waynes lives up to the moment: There are plenty of reasons Michigan State's Waynes is considered the top cornerback on this year's draft board by many personnel evaluators. Waynes gave a sample Monday. At 6-foot-1/8, 186 pounds, he ran the fastest 40 of any defensive back (4.31) and was the second-fastest player to have worked out in Indianapolis. Only Alabama-Birmingham wide receiver J.J. Nelson (4.28) was faster than Waynes, who also looked smooth in position drills.
Built-in Spartan advantage: Waynes' skills help his draft stock to be sure, but multiple secondary coaches and scouts said having played at Michigan State gives him a bonus point or two. Those evaluators believe Michigan State defensive backs -- because their scheme includes a steady diet of press coverage and a coaching staff that works with the position day to day -- come into the league with pro-ready technique. Spartans cornerback Darqueze Dennard was the 24th pick in the 2014 draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. It's not that other programs aren't doing quality technique work, as well, but several position coaches in the league, as well as personnel evaluators, said Waynes' athleticism, fundamentally sound footwork and his hands make him an easier prospect to project into the NFL.

Good thing our recruiting has skewed more towards Ohio and non-Michigan states the last couple of years. MSU gets plenty of love out-of-state.

Re: Spartans in NFL combine
The Weed Guy: This player often falls dramatically in the draft, not so much because NFL execs care about players getting high, but more because getting high just before you know you’re going to be tested by NFL doctors allegedly demonstrates less than perfect self-control. But stoned, on his couch, and watching cartoons is exactly where you want your 330-pound rookie in his spare time. The alternatives can be so much worse: unregistered handguns, strip clubs, single-car accidents, etc. Basically, teams should always pick the Weed Guy if he falls on draft day, as he almost always turns into a bargain — think Randy Moss, Warren Sapp, Tyrann Mathieu, Percy Harvin. (Aaron Hernandez is a notable exception.) Wideout Dorial Green-Beckham has two weed incidents in his past, so he’s a prime candidate, but I’m not sure the “Draft The Weed Guy” rule applies when mixed with a tossing-a-woman-down-stairs incident (see below).

Re: Spartans in NFL combine
Highest I've seen Waynes projected - #5.
5) Washington – Trae Waynes – DC – Michigan State – This could be a trade down spot, but if the Redskins stay why not the best corner in the draft? In today’s game you can’t have enough corners.

Bump for 2016 combine. Shilique, Joel, and LT are killing it, and killing some negative recruiting tactics about Coach Burton in the process.

Cook runs a 4.82 40. Looks like he wasn't even trying, TBH.

Just re-read that article. Pretty funny in parts. Somehow I think Cook is the Bad Seed this year based solely on not being elected Team Captain.

PFF wrote:4. The race to be the No. 2 edge rusher off the board is alive and well.
One of the biggest questions of the entire draft is which edge player should be drafted behind Bosa. Among the options, Oklahoma State’s Emmanuel Ogbah had the best day, as he ranked second in the vertical jump, third in the broad jump, and second in the 40-yard dash (4.63) among all defensive linemen. His +41.9 pass-rush grade ranked third in the nation, so he was always in the first-round mix, but Sunday’s performance could vault him to the top end of the round.
The nation’s top pass-rush grade belonged to Michigan State’s Shilique Calhoun, and while a 4.82 40-yard dash and 115-inch broad jump were lower than expected, his 35-inch vertical jump ranked fourth in the class. Calhoun has two years of strong pass-rushing production, but inconsistent testing may keep him out of the first round.
The other top pass-rushing name to keep an eye on is Eastern Kentucky’s Noah Spence, who may be the best pure rusher of the entire group, and his numbers ran similar to Calhoun, though his 1.62 10-yard split may be the difference in separating the two.

Not a great time for Shalique. Especially being on the lighter end of the scale. Not horrible, but he needed a low time to get him back in the first round.
Tangental note, Joey Bosa is the most overrated DL in the draft. He disappeared against in the Big games the last 2 years.

Correction he ran a 4.99 and a 4.95.
Remember when he and JBJ had a thing on Twitter a few years ago about who would win in a race and different guys on the team were lining up behind each of them?

I mean WTF? I saw Lewerke out run a ton of mother fuckers on some long ass touchdowns. Big ten is slow. DPJ went 44 in verticle. I thought of everyone from Michigan DPJ would help himself out on measurables there. Never understood how he didn’t dominate.

Yeah. That is surprising.
DPJ will get drafted on potential alone. Someone always drafts the 5-star guys even if they didn't do shit in college.

Cody White just list draft status. I’ve said it already: we’re going to be faster at receiver next year with him in the NFL. Hopefully he does well in drills and such. He might be better as a free agent.
