Someone recommend a good bourbon to ask for for Christmas. Something under $100 please. I've got a few in mind but I'm always looking to try something new.

I actually do have two bottles of Blanton's, plus two more "single serving" bottles.

No scotch though. That's a good idea. Need to step up my scotch game.

I tried it neat. Didn't like it much. I dropped an ice cube in and it cut the bite down some. Not my favorite though.

I'm not trying to sound like I have everything, honest. You guys just happened to mention everything I already have in stock.
I mentioned it in the what I want for Christmas thread, but what I really want to get is a bottle of George T. Stagg. Looks like's it's impossible to get it at face value though. I don't feel like spending the chedda on after market prices for bourbon quite yet.

If you want to get some scotch, but don't like the peaty flavor, like me. This is good shit. 60-70 a bottle.

Interesting. Is there anywhere in the Lansing or GR area that sells it? I'm pretty clueless when it comes to scotch.

Been though plenty of Bulleit and Buffalo Trace. I guess you could call those my daily drinkers along with Woodford. I don't think I've tried Bookers yet.

Here's an idea - get yourself a $10 bottle of Black Velvet and invest the $50 in America. Cheaper whiskey now but you won't be eating dog food when you retire.

God damn you're in a humorless mood today. Unless you think I was serious about the dog food. Jeezus.

I was joking too. Just because we're arguing in another thread doesn't mean we can't joke here.

Sorry I'm chasing 2 grandkids between posting so probably missed some subtlety there. I may need booze recommendations soon.

Just saw that Basil at Costco. Good stuff? I drink Blanton's (splash of water) or Woodford if I'm mixing (ginger ale).

It's got a spicy bite to it but not as strong as a typical rye. Some people say a lot of the cost goes into the fancy bottle, but I like it.

Eagle Rare
Four Roses Single Barrel
Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye
All are fantastic and around $35-40 per 750ml bottle

I also would debate your characterization of "fantastic".

I see you have a Woodford Double Oak. That's my favorite so far. Do you have a Jefferson's Reserve? I want to buy the Jefferson's Ocean Aged at Sea. I'm also hearing good things about Angel's Envy.Watch Out Pylon! wrote:

Finished of my Eagle Rare at one of the tailgates this year. I have Four Roses single barrel in one of the decanters. Never tried that Crown Royal Rye.

I got a bottle of that Crown last year for Christmas. I'm 2 drinks into it. I think that makes me a boring old man.
