Of all the great lineups the Statesmen had this one may be the best (yes, I know that's heresy Jake Hess fans)....

Somehow I thought this was going to be about Kim Burrell and her overwhelming tolerance for LGBTQ people.

Or maybe some classic old Blackwood Brothers when James was still with them?

Goose, for a local group look up the Capitalaires. They were amazing.

Bee wouldn't know about the Golden Gate Quartet.

My parents LOVED Southern Gospel Quartets. I literally bust out laughing anytime I hear this stuff. Not out of spite or mocking this, just out of memories.
To their dying day, my parents were 'true' Christians. Me, I'm an atheist. But I understand what they believed and lord only knows, this music went right along with their beliefs.
A few of the words from "The Lighthouse" are literally on my dad's tombstone.
Gospel Quartets is kinda like yoodeling. Yes, it takes talent, but that doesn't mean it's good. But at least it brings a smile to my face.

Re: Who's in the mood for a little gospel Quartet music this morning?
Sorta the reason I started this.....I've been missing my Dad this winter and he LOVED gospel quartets. Pretty much disliked or was blah to all other types of music with the exception of a few Little Richard songs. Around deer season I started thinking about driving up north with him in the rolling toaster to hunting camp and he'd have the Statesmen or the Blackwood Brothers cranked on the 8 track. Good memories.
