Official Dallas Travel Discussion Thread

Post by WhiteBoyHatcher on 2015-12-06, 21:36

Does not look good. Please post about it. Are you finding flights for less than $700? When? Where? Where you staying?

Flights are absurd. I've checked DFW and AUS (3 hours but I have a very gay friend who lives in AUS). I think I would do this if I could find a flight for less than $400 out of DTW or FNT.

Perhaps you can whore yourself to said gay friend to supplement the cost...

I think flights were priced around 8-ish, but that's where they've been for the past week. Seemed like a good time to use some miles.

Have any of you cocksuckers tried Skiplagged? Granted, I'm in PHX, but I found round-trip airfare for about $250. I was actually surprised at how inexpensive it was.

Memphis for a night followed by around 6hrs
or
night with friends in Chicago to Texarkanaish and a 2 hour drive into Dallas

Just checked Skiplagged and Heat is right - fly in on 12/31 and fly out the following day for $550. When you consider that you're saving hotel costs then it makes it totally worth it.

I checked 12/31 - 1/1 (and 1/2, 1/3, etc). Was not finding anything for that price that got into town in time for game. Perhaps I'm drunk.

Got some badass Spartan parents who want to make a roadtrip out of it. Flights are a joke so we're gonna drive..leaving on the 29th and playing it by ear. No real plans except the hotel in the Dallas area. Pretty lucky.

That always makes me nervous to do that. I almost missed a Final Four because of a flight issue one time and I don't want that to risk it.

Nothing is grown there, its going to be a major crossing point though. Just having issues. I'm not looking forward to this trip though. Fly out at 6am tomorrow and return around midnight on Thursday and my boss is going to be on the same flight and in the office at 7am on Friday. So I'll be expected to be in by 8.

I've done the drive from Detroit to Austin twice. That one takes about 20 hours. Dallas is 3 hours N of Austin so I would assume you can shave some of that time off.

Still checking flights. No es bueno. Looks like 6 hundy minimum. Point balance costs are outrageous, too. 70k miles/points.

No, I'm not used to being out after midnight and then showing up to work at 8am the next morning. Even if I am, I'm not too keen on giving work that much of my time, since they aren't giving me that much of their money.

Crossing point for produce or labor?

Or both?

My uncle has a place around there somewhere. Brownsville maybe. I think he golfs at some course that is on the Rio Bravo. They might need to build a wall to protect people from getting hit by his shots.

If you don't plan on going to the Natty, go. I'll be in Vermont so I can't, but I'll definitely be taking MSU ML against Bama - should cover a ticket and the trip out there.

Crossing point for produce. I'd say in the next 5 years it will take over Nogales as the largest crossing area in the US. It's the way to get to the northeast, without as much freight as Nogales. I'm sure there is plenty of labor that crosses there too.

I just wish it wasn't Dallas. I have no desire to go there or spend a lot of money getting there. I figured with driving I could knock off some states I'll never any reason to go to like Arkansas or even Mississippi if I drive that way. But 40 hours in a car seems rough.

If it was Miami, I would have already spent a bunch of money and would plan to be down there for over a week.

Still looking really hard for flights but I don't know why. No one I know in real life other than money tree monkey going on a private jet with his chick are actually going. So it would be really dumb to drop $700 on a flight and sit by myself, sleep in an alley and then fly home. I think I need to keep the lion in the cage for the NATTY.
