I think Kitna was a good locker room guy.  Good relationship with Calvin Johnson, etc.  Had a prank costume for Halloween that everyone loved, but I don't remember the context.

This kid is smart and sounds pretty humble.  Probably would have received some decent interest if not for the shoulder injury in week 3.

And there have been plenty of 6' qbs that do just fine in college.  It's probably a depth signing more than anything, and is only a preferred walk on, but could turn out to be a nice surprise.

You're probably right about Kitna in Detroit. I just don't remember. And yeah, if you can get a talented, under-the-radar QB into your program as a PWO, it's usually a good thing.

No - think a less edgy Kirk Cousins.

Sure I'll buy that if you really think Dioubate from Philadelphia went to Temple the AAC (not ACC) powerhouse because it was close to home.

Maybe you are confused. Sammons signed with the other SEC school in Alabama. 7-6 Auburn. He didn't sign with 14-1 National Champion Alabama.

Hill? He never committed to MSU, he committed to PSU reopned and is joining his brother in aa.

If the Alabama loss was as devastating as some want to make it out to be Dantonio would have seen massive attrition between 2 Jan and today.

The only one that may get away is the 4* DL from Fort Wayne who was arrested for battery about 60 days after he gave a verbal to MSU. Nothing related to what MSU did on the football field.
So, here is the fear some people might have. I'm going to project here, because I really don't care that much.

Other teams could have used the MSU blowout against Bama to tell the guys we were going after that losing to Bama is the peak at MSU. If you join (whatever team) we are building to be stronger than that. Not only that, but MSU only has one way to go, and that is down. They had a good run, but there is no way that is sustainable. Do you want to go play for a perennial loser team, that has had a decent run, or do you want to come play for us, while we rebuild and only ahve one way to go, and when we get there, we'll win the national championship and we won't be embarrassed on the way there.

Biggest concerns: Lack of highly regarded OL, and no RBs. And also the eligibility issues with a couple of the DL, especially in light of Evans' status.

Agree. Good class that could have been great. Very poor closing ability. Dantonio has hired introverts like himself, which isn't effective when you want to close the deal. MSU will have a tough time matching OSU and um on the field if we can't close better than this.

Offensive line recruiting has been weak for 40+ years vis-a-vis OSU, um, and Notre Dame. Happened again this year. How long can you expect projects, like Jack Conklin and Jack Allen, to turn into All-Americans?

Not getting a running back. Usually a dime a dozen recruit, and MSU has a good track record here. Losing the RB to Nardog hurt, as well as the kid that went from Maryland to Oklahoma.

What impact has the linebackers/special teams coach Snyder had? Don't see him bringing in studs from Ohio.

Good class. But didn't take advantage of reaching the playoff.

Dantonio isn't worried.

Conference champs. 2 of the last three years with classes ranked in the 20's.

Swizz, we're fine.

Interesting comment from Dantonio: MSU planned to take three wide receivers. Trishton Jackson was so good they had to take him as a fourth.

3 recruits that would grade out pretty well...

Graham Couch ‏@Graham_Couch 35m35 minutes ago
Ed Davis has to graduate, I'm told, before he can petition for a 6th year. Appears to be a certainty when he does.

Chris SolariVerified account ‏@chrissolari
Dantonio confirms that LB Ed Davis, DT Damon Knox, OL Brandon Clemmons will return for a sixth season in 2016.

I trust Dantonio but this strategy sounds a lot like the Lions drafting Mike Williams #10 overall in 2005 after drafting Charles Rogers and Roy Williams the previous two years (and before Rogers was a bust).

And then taking Calvin Johnson in 08.... Sort of like that? They have 85 or whatever scholarships to work with. They'll be fine.

1 of 4-5 PWO's mentioned today. A running back from Boyne City - Malik Smith? A fullback - Coach Ron Burton's son. Someone will have a good list later today or tomorrow.

MSU's 2011, 2012, and 2013 recruiting classes, which fed the 2015 CFP team, had a total of 11 4* players. The 2016 class has 10 of them.
