I dig an All Day periodically. I typically keep them in stock in the summer. Great post-ride beer on the deck in the sun.The Pantry wrote:For a session, that is correct. Plus, Gateway tastes much better.Other Teams Pursuing That wrote:Is pantry trying to say that less alcohol content is better?
Meijer often has a 15 pack for $14.99.

Re: Hopslam
Found out a place a mile North and a little East somehow got more cases of Hopslam yesterday.
Stopped there after work today. They still had maybe 2-3 cases left. Bought a six without asking the price, partly because of the spinner Chaldean hottie that always wears yoga pants and has to bend over to get my cigarettes off the lowest shelf on the far side of the counter.
Bought some other stuff too. After thinking about it a bit I'm pretty sure that six cost $25.

Bump. Anybody come across this year's batch yet? Supposedly it came out Wednesday and they've already started shipping. Checked Cascade Meijer on Friday night and again tonight but didn't see it yet. Can't wait!

Stopped at Buscemi's a few days ago and asked when they'd be getting it. Said probably this week, Put my name and phone # on a list. They always call when stuff comes in.

Nice. Seems like an earlier release this year for some reason. I'm not complaining though. I love it. I'll buy at least a couple cases again this year.

You're lucky if you can land a couple cases. Most places around here been limiting purchases to a 6 or two the last few years.y2kMgrad wrote:The Pantry wrote:Stopped at Buscemi's a few days ago and asked when they'd be getting it. Meijer had two pallets of those 6 packs of cans. I bought 5 of them the first night I saw it, then went back the next day and bought 5 more.

Hopslam is solid. But I don't get the hype. If it is in the store when I'm in the store, I might by a sixer. Otherwise... whatever.

Totally agree. That 2013 brew was wicked good.
Edit: '14 was pretty darn good, too. Truthfully, though, I've never had a bad year since buying Hopslam.

Just cracked my first one. I don't taste the honey as much this year. Only a hint of honey. I thought last year's batch had too a little too much honey to where I couldn't taste the hops. This year's batch is definitely different in that respect. You can easily taste the hops this year and it almost has more of a citrusy taste to it, like grapefruit or something. I didn't start drinking Hopslam until 2015 but it's boozy delicious as always. Enjoy!

I remember the 2013 bottled batch being very hoppy and almost kind of dry...was really good. Had 2013 on tap also. Was a bit different. The hops were there but it tasted much boozier than the bottled stuff.y2kMgrad wrote:The Pantry wrote:Nice. How would you compare it to previous years batches?

Re: Hopslam
y2k, what was Meijer selling them for?
Funny story, I went to a party store tonight (Buscemi's at Van Dyke S of 18 for Pantry) and as I was paying I spied some boxes of Hopslam in the back. I hadn't even been thinking about it, different stuff on my radar this year. I do really like it, though. So I said hey, do you have any available or is it all reserved? He said sure, how many do you want? 4? 5? 6? I said I'll take a case (4). No problem cousin! (if he only knew)
I did not even think about asking price. It wasn't until I signed the receipt that I realized they were priced at 23.99/6.
Oh well. In truth I don't have time to hunt this shit down and if they didn't have it at my local Kroger odds are I wouldn't be taking any home this year. Whatever.

Meijer had it on sale for $15.99/sixer. I've bought 6 of them so far, and I'm loving this year's batch. It's different than last year, but better. A little smoother imo. The mini kegs were $39.99 but they only had about 8 of those. I'm regretting not buying one. They're probably gone by now.

Yea from Meijer. But the pallet will be gone within a week and then I’ll have to get it from a smaller stores for $22-25.

The Kroger on Lake Lansing has a bunch of six packs available. They don’t normally carry much of it, but I poked my head in the beer aisle because I kept striking out at Meijer.

Have picked up 4 sixes at different times so far.
Is it just me or does this batch seem not as hoppy as previous years? Also, too sweet IMO.

My first reaction was that it was less sweet than I remember the last couple of years. Maybe not quite as hoppy. I’ve only had it on tap so far. Found some at Costco this week for $15 but haven’t cracked any open yet. So many good DIPAs are available year round now, I don’t get super excited about Hopslam like I used to.The Pantry wrote:Have picked up 4 sixes at different times so far.

Agree on getting less excited for Hopslam. Still think 2013 was the best batch they've made.

Ever since Goodrich’s closed, I’ve stopped looking for new beers to try. Hadn’t heard of Boss Tweed before, so I looked it up. Didn’t even know there was a microbrew in Williamston. Apparently, their M-43 New England style beer is wildly popular across the state. There was an article quoting a guy from a Grand Rapids bar who said some nights, M-43 outsells Two-Hearted and Oberon combined.
