DL Recruiting - 2014 and 2015 (and 2017). WHERE'S THE BEEF??

Just took a look back at the DL signees in the 2014 and 2015 classes, as those are the players who should be stepping in right about now. It ain't pretty.

2014
MM - obviously a force
C. Evans - had NFL talent, but GONE
E. Smith - GONE
R. Bowers - ??
M. Sweat - GONE

2015
J. Alexander - Underperforming
M. Hunt - ??
R. Williams - a keeper
C. Pete - GONE

So we got two starters, two under development, one underperforming (?) and four gone. The departure of Evans and Sweat was devastating.

The 2016 4-star guys are too young to make a real impact, but are depth players forced into duty. No redshirts likely. The two transfers...well, ok.

Looking ahead to the 2017 commitments, only two along the DL so far, both DEs of the 3-star variety.

Yes we did, that's why I left out the 2016 class. But 4 signees in one year's class aren't going to make up for the failures of the two classes before that, and possibly another class after that.

Wouldn't it make sense, though, that we're not seeing a bumper crop DL class this year because current recruits don't want to be stuck 1 year behind our stud class?
