WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden on Thursday defended his administration’s decision to waive 26 federal laws in South Texas to allow for construction of roughly 20 miles of additional border wall, saying he had no choice but to use the Trump-era funding for the barrier to stop illegal migration from Mexico.

Asked if he thought such walls work, he said flatly, “No.”

The new construction was announced in June, but the funds were appropriated in 2019 before the Democratic president took office. Biden said he tried to get lawmakers to redirect the money but Congress refused, and the law requires the funding to be used as approved and the construction to be completed in 2023.

Not a Republican (or a libertarian ... or a democrat for that matter) but I'm glad to see Biden finally doing something to stop the invasion they used to call "immigration". I guess when the dem govs and mayors of sanctuary states started complaining Biden finally figured that his status quo was no longer politically feasible. I guess it took Abbott sending the illegals to NY to finally get Biden to take action.

I'm excited that any of our politicians are finally taking border security serious.  Sad to see that it's taken Gov Abbott sending illegals to sanctuary cities to finally get the lib's attention on this issue.  Too little too late IMO but biden is grasping due to his dreadful poll numbers.
