Clackamas County Fire on broadcastify. Those guys are busy as hell with the fires going out near Portland. One house since I've been listening is a total loss, they're trying to keep fire away from a propane tank. Another crew got pulled out of an area because it was a lost cause.

Tyler Childers released a new rekkid today.. it's a damn fine piece of art.
He also released this video to accompany the album. Check it out if you want (if you're easily offended, it might upset you).

Same here. I used to hate them and every time one of their songs came on a power rock station in Michigan I couldn't turn the station quick enough. Their rhythm section is unbelievable and I prefer all the albums with Bon.

Listened to some Lou Reed today. His genius is missed and think he'd be a great voice to have around during these loony times.
"Some local yokel member of the NRA
kept a bazooka in his living room
and thinking he had the chief in his sights
blew the whale's brains out with a lead harpoon
Well Americans don't care for much of anything
land and water the least
And animal life is low on the totem pole
with human life not worth much more than infected yeast
Americans don't care too much for beauty
They'll shit in a river, dump battery acid in a stream
They'll watch dead rats wash up on the beach
and complain if they can't swim
They say things are done for the majority
Don't believe half of what you see
and none of what you hear
It's a lot like what my painter friend Donald said to me
"Stick a fork in their ass and turn them over, they're done"

Also, has a song about the aids epidemic the Halloween parade absolutely brilliant. It’s amazing how many themes on that album translate to today.

he accurately diagnosed the rot and bigotry within the system in 1989.
This is the set...https://www.superdeluxeedition.com/news/lou-reed-new-york-deluxe-edition/
I'm probably a dinosaur but I prefer packaging, the liner notes, the photos and the physical media through the power and glory of my epic sound system. Listening through a phone or an alexa home speaker is no way to enjoy a staggering work of genius.

Re: What are you listening to right now?
"I took my GPZ out for a ride
the engine felt good between my thighs
The air felt cool, it's was forty degrees outside
I rode to Pennsylvania near the Delaware Gap
sometimes I got lost and had to check the map
I stopped at a roadside diner for a burger and a coke
There were some country folk and some hunters inside
somebody got themselves married and somebody died
I went to the juke box and played a hillbilly song
They was arguing about football as I waved and went outside
and I headed for the mountains feeling warm inside
I love that GPZ so much, you know that I could kiss her"
Every fucking verse is potent.

great stuff.
also, like the idiot I am, I referred to the "title track" of New York - obviously there is not title track, I was referring to "Dirty Blvd" - listening to it right now. So good.
"give me your hungry, your tired, your poor and I'll piss on 'em.. that's what the Statue of Bigotry says"...

That's the potent poetry of Lou. Don't get me wrong I like Bob Dylan a lot but lines like "the sun isn't yellow it's chicken' never resonated with me like the one you just put down.
Lou could be brutal and abusive to anyone that adored him (friends/fans/loved ones) but he was compassionate for marginalized groups and outsiders. I think that album is fueled by anger over the lack of response to the AIDS epidemic and all the bigotry he saw towards the people impacted by it.

Re: What are you listening to right now?
you're right - a handful of artists can weave this tapestry of lyric-driven poetic imagery.. Lou Reed's skill was being brutally honest with a very limited number of words.steveschneider wrote:Robert J Sakimano wrote:great stuff.

Re: What are you listening to right now?
I had a weird ass dream last night that reminded me of watching WKRP in Cincinnati with my dad as a kid. Anyways, when I woke up I Googled Loni Anderson to see what she is up to these days and I found out she is now married to some dude from a folk singing group named The Brothers Four. I made it about 10 seconds into their most famous song, Greenfields before I wanted to blow my brains out. Holy fuck what a depressing sound.

that's from his solo record.
He's the lead singer for a band out of the great state of North Carolina called American Aquarium. If you wanna dig into their records a bit, start with "Dances For The Lonely" and "Burn. Flicker. Die".
