Your NYC suggestions
Hubby and I are heading to NY tomorrow. First 3.5 days in NYC, then driving to the Adirondacks.
We have tickets to the late show with Colbert on Wednesday. Planning on going to comedy castle Mon or Tues night. Haven't got Broadway tickets, but I will see if there's one we can snag.
Mostly planning to just drive around the Adirondacks and hike while we are there . We have a beautiful Victorian BB that we're staying at while we're there.
Any must do/see that you would suggest?

Staying not too far from Times Square.
And in Saratoga springs (were fine with the little drive there and back during the day).
Good idea about buying a map. I was thinking of using my phone. So I forgot about possible no reception.
I have been to NYC before but hubby hasn't . Back on 2005. WTC had nothing there when I last went. So definitely planning on visiting there . I wasn't going to worry too much about restaurants, as I'm sure most anything is good.
Also just planning on walking around and enjoying the sights. But I didn't know of any other things that are a big deal to see/do.

Saratoga Springs isn't in the Adirondacks. Do you mean that you want to drive up to the Adirondacks and hike for the day? I have a NY State Hiking Guidebook I'll take a look at it later and give you some recommendations.
NYC is NYC. There are all the main sights to see, just depends which ones you want to visit. I always recommend the double decker bus tours because it's nice to sit on the topless upper deck and it's actually a good way to get around the city because all the main sights are along the route.
I actually live in NY. Get the fuck off my turf.

Yes I know it's not in the adirondecks, but it's not too far of a drive to go and hike for the day. We'll also just. E driving around the lakes just for scenery.
We might do the bus tour. I did that back in 2005, but it was for the Christmas lights. I won't hold my breath about the Statue of Liberty, but might check it out.

There are a lot of cool places to go in NYC. Statue of Liberty takes up too much time.

Cheap things to do:
•Grand Central Station:
•9/11 Memorial/Freedom Tower
•Staten Island Ferry is a good way to see Manhattan from the water, plus views of Liberty and Ellis Island.
•Brooklyn Bridge: I don't know the best view, but you can see it from South Street Seaport, a well-known tourist trap. Bonus cheap touristy nugget: The wooden dock/walkout behind the Seaport is where Darryl Hannah jumped back into the water at the end of Splash. Some say, if you stick your nose on the planks, you can still smell her fishy tail.

Trying to think of inexpensive things that Dendro can do. You wouldn't know she's a new parent with big expenses and a limited budget and therefore probably can't afford to do the more expensive things in the City, because you are a selfish prick lost in your own world. #TurtleneckIsANarcissist

Re: Your NYC suggestions
Got married early Sept '86 and honeymooned in Hawaii. Friends of ours were to be married in White Plains two weeks later so we scheduled the return trip from HA to NY. Only time I ever went to NYC. Many friends from the Detroit area (groom's side) drove there too. Had a day to burn before the wedding and had a blast. Stayed in White Plains and took the train/subway downtown. Saw Time Square but spent most of our time in lower Manhattan. Wall Street, ferry tour to the Statue of Liberty, roof of one tower of the WTC, Battery Park. Met up with one of kitten's friends that had an apartment down there. She took us to a great pizza place (forget the name).
Wedding reception next day was awesome. Most lavish thing I've ever attended. Her parents had serious money.
All-in-all it was a fun trip. But, no way I'd ever bother going there again.

Why are you making assumptions about Dendro's budget? Not everybody is poor like you. I do not even know how you were allowed to register for tSwill. Go back to 247 and post with the common people.

I know because she talked about how nevets has big bills from chiropractor school. Plus, they have a newborn, and those little sleep-depriving shit machines cost serious money. That didn't even mention the big cost of their trip to Australia last year. Young families most often have tighter budgets. You wouldn't know these things because you're a malignant narcissist.

Come to think of it, you might want to avoid NY altogether, Dendro. You don't want to risk becoming anything like Turtleneck.

Good suggestions! Thanks! And I love me some fish!
I read these posts to nevets. He said "how the hell do they know so much about us?"
Uh...guess I post too much shit.
And yes, we are freaking poor. We would be golden without his student loans . I'm actually a little nervous with money for this trip. But I had a free plane ticket that was going to expire . And Florida keys got wiped out, napa burned down. The two other places we were looking at.
So that's why half the trip is just hiking and scenery, plus we enjoy it.

Maybe hit up a Knicks game? Or a play on Broadway? Idk I haven't been there since college but that city is a blast. We went to some awesome bars like Hogs 'n Heifers and McSorleys. The whole trip is a little hazy except the day we went to the top of the World Trade Center. That was early August 2001, about 5 weeks before 9/11.

Well I never said they were good, I was just trying to come up with things she could do. When we were there we saw the Mets at Shea and it was fun, even though they were crappy. I think it would be cool to see a basketball game at Madison Square Garden, whether the Knicks suck or not.

I've been going there my entire life I think it's overrated. But that's just me. Quickly looking at StubHub and the lowest ticket prices are over $50 apiece (nosebleeds) so with fees and everything else I'm not sure it's worth dropping almost $200 to sit in shitty seats to see the Knicks. To me I doubt I'd go if someone gave me free tickets.
I always really liked the place. Seen some amazing concerts there and it feels good to be in a place with so much history but to each their own.

I'd support a Broadway show, as well. Pretty affordable if you can/want to see a show not named "Hamilton".
Fun to have one or two things planned, but enjoy just walking and being whimsical. Fall in NYC is my favorite time there.

Pretty close. But I am wearing red. I probably look like an idiot screaming away.
It was a ton of fun though . I love the late show anyway, and the fact that tickets are free is even better.
