Should the Simpson's do away with Apu, keep him as is or alter the way he is featured and his storylines are created to make him less offensive?

I only know what I've read, but I would think it's a good idea to get rid of the character. Times have changed since the show began.. lots of characters, shows, etc. over the years wouldn't be appropriate in modern society.. and the evolution of society is a good thing.

I have no strong opinion either way. I’m just a white Dude so imo it’s up to that culture to sort it out. I have read a ton of Indian people are pro Apu. I can see some of their points, I can also see the point of the people offended. I guess I lean towards it is time for the character to evolve.

yeah - that's where I'm at. I certainly don't have a strong opinion.. the market often plays such things out. If ya don't like it, don't watch it, ya know?steveschneider wrote:Robert J Sakimano wrote:I only know what I've read, but I would think it's a good idea to get rid of the character. Re: Apu Nahasapeemapetilon
So you have Dr. Who that has been around since the 60's. Is there another show that has been on the air longer than the Simpsons? Wasn't Gunsmoke on the air forever too?

Married With Children was on forever too. I think the two you listed though are the longest running ones. I guess does Sessame Street count?

Re: Apu Nahasapeemapetilon
How about not have him be a stereotype? That’s probably enough.
