I've never been, I rarely make it out to that side of town. I heard that their pizza is pretty good. The fact that they've made it past a year means the beer is probably decent and the owners at least have a clue what they are doing.

haven't been, either - probably for the same reason - I can count on one hand the number of times I've been to that side of town in the last 10 years.Jaheab wrote:I've never been, I rarely make it out to that side of town. I, too, have heard that their pizza is pretty good - I should try to get over and check it out.

Re: EagleMonk Pub and Brewery
I have been there. The owners are retired State of Michigan employees. Dan makes some of the best beer I have ever tasted. They won the "Best Brewery" award in the most recent City Pulse "Best Of" contest. Their pizza is very tasty.
The culture of the place is different so be prepared. It is located in what used to be an old convenience store. You will not receive a waitress to take your drink order, you will be sitting in a fairly stark room with little to no ambiance, however the owners are very cool and will let you look at their operation and like to share what they are working on. The bartenders are always upbeat and the beer is unmatched.
They have quite a large following and it is growing but so far we have never had to stand to enjoy ourselves.
Give it a try and report back what you think.

Re: EagleMonk Pub and Brewery
Went to EagleMonk last night - I knew it was small, but it really is.
Beer was good, pizza was too. Limited menu - pizza/panini/salad.
I'll probably go back, try a couple of different beers & a panini.
They sell pretzels as a snack, but they should try having a snack mix on the tables .... might sell more beer that way.
I would probably not bring out of towners there as a place to show off Lansing dining/drinking.

I did not make it. I got outvoted.
I am confused by the restaurant scene at times.

I have been and was pleasantly surprised. Good beer and pizza. Not the kind of place you would go on a date though unless your girl thinks Peanut Barrel is too fancy
