This NAFTA renegotiation announcement is the weirdest thing...
The media is reporting it like it's a done deal, but from what I can tell, there's some preliminary "understanding" on the table between the US and Mexico, but no engagement from the US to Canada and Congress probably has to approve the pull out from NAFTA. So... congratulations on getting what looks like a conversation with 1/3 of the parties?

We really fucked over the Canucks but good. Trudeau thought he could get the Mexicans to tag team with them against us. He made a major miscalculation.
Trump still hasn't sent the nafta termination letter which starts the 6 month clock to treaty termination.

Congress passed a law to enact NAFTA. The president can’t unilaterally declare it terminated.

This article pretty much undresses Trump's nothing burger (sorry goose )

Trump even gave the bilateral agreement a name: the "US-Mexico Trade Agreement," which he said would replace
the trilateral free trade deal.
But none of that is happening.

Actually he can. Congress ratfied the nafta treaty and there is a 6 month out triggered by a presidential letter

Where are US businesses going to buy their non-tariff aluminum? Going to wait for the KY facilities to get online in 24 months?
Does the US have alternative production facilities to take the place of Canadian auto production?

No he can’t. The treaty is a framework. There are multiple laws that were passed to allow the framework to fit within the law. Those laws cannot just be tossed out without congressional cooperation.

Look, I think that offshoring jobs has been shitty for the American middle class as much as the next guy, but trump is doing what trump does: blowing his load before he’s actually accomplished anything. And another place where you’re wrong is on the fact that administration officials have been negotiating with Canada all along. They were not part of this “agreement” to have some more agreements, but they have been at the table. Once again people who refuse to see the douchebag for the trees mistake stupid bellowing bravado for strength.

Really? Because this is what Daniel Dale is saying... from the Toronto Star. There's more non-fake bullshit that I can post for you. But it mostly amounts to Dale saying Trump is detached from reality, as are you it seems.
Basically, what keeps happening is that Trump says things about making two separate two-country deals with Canada and with Mexico, then his administration just keeps working on the three-country NAFTA. His rhetoric has often had almost no connection to the actual negotiations.

Again, Trump makes shit up, puts a dramatic spin on it, all the while in reality something completely different is taking place. And the dummies swallow the bullshit every. Single. Time. It's not even worth arguing about any more. They all live in an alternate universe.

He can leave nafta with a 6 month out. Some provisions will still be in force. Good read here

So in other words he hasn't done a thing other than talk a bunch of nonsense and you think he's fucking over the Canadians... how again?
Specifics with links would be nice for once.
Spoiler alert: There are no specifics. This dumbfuck of a president never deals with specifics. His brain doesn't work that way. He uses superlatives and generalizations to make it sound like whatever he is doing is "the greatest thing ever." And then the useful idiots fills in the holes of whatever the fuck they're talking about with whatever it is they think they need to be winning at, in the moment.

How hard is it to understand that if you're not at the table your interests are not representated. And giving them to Friday to sign is a well and through fucking. I get it you hate Trump and have to run down everything he does but sometimes you should come up for air and see things as they are.

So you have no specifics you can point to. Thanks for your input. Also, why are you so geeked about fucking Canada over? Because Trump told you they're the enemy now? How easy is it to fill your brain with nonsense?

Here's some actual, searchable content that shows that Canada isn't getting "fucked over." Feel free to spin this however you see fit.

Also, they don't seem too worried about hitting the deadline of Friday.

Canada may find it harder to sign up to US-Mexico understandings on key US demands beyond tighter rules of origin for
autos, but the new pressure for Canada to get on board quickly hands it more sway in the talks. Discussions could well
extend beyond the end of this week and miss the US Congress’ procedural deadline for signature of a revised NAFTA deal under
the current Mexican administration.

I'm all for cutting the best deal possible for the USA and if that means it's at the Canadians expense so be it. Trudeau miscalculated that by not coming to the table he would be able to preserve the milk subsidies and no sunset clause. Also they were interested in auto content regs.
There is a lot of details to be filled in but it looks like it will be a better deal for us.
Peruse the Globe and Mail (Canada's wsj) it's filled with the pressure is now on Canada.

Re: This NAFTA renegotiation announcement is the weirdest thing...
Any word on Trump ending the tariffs on Chinese steel and Chinese made auto components that are supplied by companies like Lucern?
From the link:
Trump's tariffs on Chinese goods, including autos and parts, under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, are separate from the Commerce Department investigation of whether cars and parts made elsewhere are a threat to national defense and therefor eligible for new tariffs under Section 232.
So what good does renegotiated of NAFTA (and renamed so the US is first mentioned) do if Canada isn't on board, and even if they are if Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplers like Lucern are driven out of business or take a financial beating because of Trump's tariff war with China?

From what I'm reading the entire "change" to NAFTA consists of a few minor tweaks... but a MAJOR issue the white house demanded was to rename the existing agreement. So, in "wins", style over substance.
Good thing blue collar main street americans can get behind these changes to MAGA.
