Regarding Maradona, coincidentally today is the 15th anniversary of another one of the top 5-6 soccer players of all time, George Best, who also was legendary for his hard partying lifestyle, leading to his early death.

For those not all that familiar with Maradona, he had the most controversial World Cup goal ever and also the greatest World Cup goal ever....in the same game (1986 vs England).

I caught a couple knucklers in my unremarkable HS and summer league career. Not really good ones. It’s tough enough catching someone who’s good at tossing them, but a whole lot harder when the pitcher doesn’t know what they’re doing.

I don't remember if it was that year or the following, but we went to a game at old tiger stadium after that incident where Joe was pitching. We were sitting near the visitor's dugout and when Joe ultimately got pulled from the game, some guy in our section handed out nail files to the entire section and we all jeered at Joe walking off the field waving those things at him.
