It's easy to grin

And you've got the stock market beat.
But the man worthwhile,

I used to get all the actor names and their proper shows mixed up. Robert Conrad was WWW; William Conrad was Cannon; Bob Crane was Hogan; Mike Connors, Mannix.
It was all very confusing for a not too smart fat boy with a butch haircut from Williamston.

I don't think they're "celebrities" unless like 3 or 4 of us have heard of them.

Re: tOfficial 2020 Celebrity/Notable Deaths Thread
Larry Tessler passed away. He invented the cut and paste feature. As a Swill tribute to him I've cut and pasted an article about his life here.
--------
Larry Tesler, the inventor of cut, copy and paste, has passed away at the age of 74. Tesler was a former Xerox researcher, who also went on to work in some of the other big tech companies, including Apple, Yahoo, Amazon.com to name a few.
Tesler was born in 1945, and studied at Stanford University in the 1960’s. He was also a research assistant at Stanford later on working in the field of “artificial intelligence, cognitive modeling, natural language representation and symbolic programming languages,” according to his LinkedIn page.
He is credited as the inventor of ‘modeless editing and cut, copy and paste’ while he was part of the research staff at Xerox. He also helped to invent the ability to type or paste, find & replace text into a form that can be edited before and after searching among other notable contributions.
Other contributions at Xerox included prototyping a page layout system similar to the later Pagemaker and hardware design of the first luggable computer called the Notetaker, according to Tesler’s official website.
Xerox’s official account also put out a tweet remembering Tesler. The tweet notes, “The inventor of cut/copy & paste, find & replace, and more was former Xerox researcher Larry Tesler. Your workday is easier thanks to his revolutionary ideas. Larry passed away Monday, so please join us in celebrating him.”

Yep, the guy had to know his time was due soon. Once you hold that title, you realize it won’t be for long.

Re: tOfficial 2020 Celebrity/Notable Deaths Thread
So, billionaire titans of industry die at 84 too? Seems like there is a lesson in that. Like, after a certain point in your career... whats it all for? My grandpa died at 86, started every morning with a screwdriver, steak and eggs... fixed cars and bartered his way through life. Generally poor, but he had what he needed.
I'm being too introspective for tSwill today.

The lesson here is do whatever makes you happy. If striving to a be billionaire in this world makes you happy, then do that. If tinkering in your garage makes you happy, then do that. In the end, it's all happy trails anyway.

Lived in St Clair Shores later in life, went out fishing with him in his boat. Ended up in a cove by the Ford estate (I guess?)... Dropped anchor and fiddled around, weren't catching shit of course. Then he said, yeah didn't think we would get anything, I only like anchoring here because sometimes you can see ladies flash their titties ....& Sure as shit, 15 min later, a boat like 20 -30 yards away, Some lady came out of the lower part topless. Gramps was like "Ahhhh... time to go."
