I’ve decided I’m willing to watch anything with Daniel Radcliffe in it.

I started watching Amazon's "Hanna". It's pretty good. Joel Kinnaman is underrated.

Have you seen Line of Duty? I’m four episodes in and really enjoying it.

Oh, and this may be heresy, but I find Ken Jeong annoying AF, especially his Ben Chang character. Way too over the top, over-acting, really, the same way Craig Middlebrooks and to a lesser extent Jean-Ralphio are on P& R.

I don't think it's heresy at all to be annoyed by Ken Jeong. Chang just keeps getting more and more out there as the series goes on. I mostly enjoy it, but I can see how others would not.

Seasons 5 and 6 have their high points (Digital Estate Planning is among my favorite episodes of the series), and even season 4 has some solid stuff, but it's really all about the first 3 seasons. That's where the magic is.

For some reason, I thought this episode was in season 5, but I just watched it, and it was definitely season 3. Great fucking episode though.

There are still moments in Season 5 although the writing is just not as good without Harmon. John Oliver was a high point for sure.

Greyhound on Apple TV+. It was going to be a theatrical release but Apple TV+ got it for streaming in the world of Covid.

I liked it. Pretty much anything historical that Tom Hanks touches is gold. This doesn't have a complex plot or deep characters with a lot of backstory. My understanding is that the book doesn't either. What it does have is that it drops you into a moment in time, on an WWII ship escorting a caravan across the North Atlantic while being hunted by Uboats. 90 minutes of edge of your seat tension.

Apple TV+ has a 7 day free trial, so I signed up for that to watch this.

I have decided that although I am a fan of Dan Harmon’s work, it feels like his goal is to drag you into his psyche. Whether I’m watching community or rick and morty, after a few episodes mostly of season 4 of R&M and a few different seasons including 6 of community, I find myself feeling kind of hopeless. I know he talks about how facing the meaninglessness of the cosmos is terrible but also frees you to really be present in intimate moments with people you love, but I’m not sure he believes that. He’s also writing an adaptation of Vonnegut’s sirens of titan which is one of my favorites and Vonnegut kind of has that nihilism thing going on too so I’ll of course watch it, but yeah.

I can't do it. Musicals. I just can't. Wife and kids love them. I've tried. Can't do it.

I took twife to Phantom of the Opera while dating in college. Watched Mary Poppins, Singing in the fing Rain, etc, etc, etc. Went to the Lion King at the Fox with the fam.Took twife and tkids to nyc to see Hamilton. I didn't go in. Tried to scalp outside, but didn't make a deal. I had a $100 limit. Almost got one from a no-show. But she showed. A scalper sold one to another guy for $250 just before doors close and then taunted me, like I missed out. Push come to shove, I woulda been hard pressed to pay a hundred. Only because the rest of my fam was in there, would I have. Found an underground bourbon bar instead. We both won. I've tried. I really have.

They've been replaying it since the release. I hear it in the background. Nonstop singing. Please make it stop. The premise is good. I'm sure it is wonderfully performed. I did a report on Alexander Hamilton in  the10th grade. It was a masterpiece. Fuck Aaron Burr. But the singing. Non-stop signing. Except for the crowd clapping in between the signing. I can't do it.

TL;DR I hate musicals. Too much signing.

Zombie Strippers just started on Showtime. Jenna Jameson stars. Looks like the acting is god-awful hilarious. I’m getting sleepy enough to go to bed soon, but this might be worth staying up for.

Edit: Couldn’t do it. Had to sleep. Besides, Jameson’s bolt-ons are nasty.

Hey Bob, I just finished this documentary on Prime called "Once is Enough" but Jeff Binney, an obese guy who weighed 340lbs and figured the best way to lose it was to start running 100 mile ultra marathons. He's a comedian and there are stand-up bits of redneck humor throughout. You might like it.

Watched Midway (2019) this weekend. Probably give it a high 6 or low 7. It was okay. The actual story saves the movie; the dialogue isn’t very good, except where they used real quotes and scenes. I’m biased against movies using so much green screen. It wasn’t obvious all the time, but enough for me to be distracted by it.

Also watched:
After Truth: Disinformation and the Cost of Fake News, a documentary by Andrew Rossi which aired on HBO. Generally speaking there’s not a lot of new stuff to learn if you pay attention to the news. However, the doc goes deeper on topics such as Jade Helm, the Doug Jones/Roy Moore AL/SEN race, and the horrible fake news that nearly destroyed Comet Ping Pong & Pizza. Rossi did a great job humanizing the owner and staff who were most affected by that ridiculous story.

That said, ive probably seen 20+....(My ma was into them) the best stories by far are Hamilton and Les Mis. Probably pedestrian of me to say that, but it's true.

Nothing pedestrian about Hamilton. It’s the most amazing theatrical performance I’ve ever seen, musical or otherwise. The creator, Miranda, is nothing less than a fucking genius.

So When my now 19 year old was little, Lin Manual Miranda was on sesame street selling Big Bird a new house. You could tell by that little thing that the dude had something.

WAIT: Found a youtube.... Of course this is only a third of it cause HBO now owns and limits distribution so it's not widely available in the internets.
