The Emmett Till Antilynching Act, introduced by Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Ill.), passed with an overwhelming 410-4 vote.

I would be much more satisfied with this kind of window dressing legislation if anything meaningful could get done. As it stands this looks like political grandstanding to try to pretend that the two sides can work together but if any substantive disagreement happens, everything grinds to a halt. There’s no negotiation.

imagine being someone sitting around a bar that goes on record as being okay with lynching black people.. now imagine being one of four people in the United States Congress that is okay with it.
