Jordan benefits from the sneakers. He had the best branding and people loved it. The dunk contest vs Domonique as well. Funny you look back at that dunk contest and it seems pedestrian by today’s standards.

Yeah, I don't think that's quite what I was saying.
The league and the players in it are better now. The shooting and shot selection/distribution is MUCH better, defenses are better and more sophisticated, and the game is more enjoyable to watch.

Hanes, Gatorade, McDonalds, Nike and I think there was a Coke commercial. His friggin shoes are still a BFD, there would be lines in the morning in NYC full of kids waiting to buy them in the last ten years or so. Also, UofM sold out and took on his branding. If they were really a Michigan school and not just a stopping ground for east coast transplants they'd never take on that logo.

I think it was a perfect storm of Nike blowing up Mars Blackmon and Jordan all starting to peak at the same time. “Gotta be the shoes” and “Bo knows” had to be pushed on us in or near the same time. 88,90,91. Maybe I’m not remembering right.

Well, you show two guys who's stats are pretty similar on the link. But you copy and paste the part of it that shows that one got more individual honors, which of course, are relative to who else is in the league at the time they're playing. So Paul's stats wouldn't have gotten him most of those honors in the 80s.
Honestly, though, comparing stats between two players of different eras is always going to be pointless for the very reason that they played in different eras when the styles and trends of play were different, and even when the rules were somewhat different.

When Isaiah got injured in a playoff game he put up 25+ points on one leg. When CP3 got hurt he went into the tunnel.

There's no end to the amount of subjective spin you can put on stats and awards. I mostly just posted that comparison in response to whoever said Isiah Thomas is a top 10 guy, because he's basically Chris Paul, and Chris Paul is not a top 10 guy.
For the record, I have no particular affinity for Chris Paul. I actually think he's kind of a bitch.

Picture this...You're in the midst of an epic 1 on 1 between OTPT and Jordan. Jenison is absolutely rocking and you're having a blast watching a fellow Swiller beat up on Jordan. The issue? You're hungry. You look around for a vendor selling a hotdog or something. That's when you see Travis and his stupid fucking oats. He's selling bags of oats like they're an 1/8 of weed. That fucker.

His performance on one leg in game 6 of the 88 finals was the best I've ever seen. the guy took down Magic and Jordan in their primes.
But for some reason nobody wants to talk about Zeke when they talk about Magic, Bird and MJ. Shit, we hear more about guys like Barkley. Leaving Thomas off the dream team was criminal. John Stockton? Give me a fucking break. When they met after the dream team was announced Isiah destroyed him.

IMO there is one point guard in NBA history I would take 100% over Isiah and his name is Magic. The other in the conversation is Steph Curry. And then OTPT.

OTPT is totally overrated. Good shooter, but shitty handles and can’t get his own shot. His idea of defense is standing around waiting to play offense.

Some decent points in there, but the overall premise is complete horseshit.
Everything he despised about the Pistons – which really boils down to their cutthroat competitiveness, a trait passed on to them by Larry Bird’s Boston Celtics
Michael Jordan hated the Pistons but needed to become them to beat them. No wonder he was so reluctant to let the world in on his secret.
"What he hated about them was they were competitive, so he had to become competitive to beat them." That's fucking asinine. Does anyone actually believe Jordan wasn't maniacally competitive his entire life?

Yeah you don’t get to orth Carolina, want the ball at the end of a National championship game and not be hyper competitive. He was told in his second year if he re injured his foot it could be his career yet he wanted to play.
