Novak Djokovic > Roger Federer
A lot of GOAT talk lately. Heard Charles Barkley mention Tiger Woods and Jordan as the two best athletes of his life time. Roger Federer people. 20 Grand Slams with Nadal right behind him. Also, he's pure class and doesn't hold life long petty grudges.

He is so smooth. I've gotta work on a one handed back hand with that back spin.

He ranks third out of the top three if you ask me. I like Federer and Nadal so much I tend to find myself rooting against him all the time. But he's incredible.

I mean how much leverage would they have? Tennis is dead in the US. I haven’t heard of most of those people.

Re: Novak Djokovic > Roger Federer
So your rankings:
1) Federer - GOAT
2) Nadal
3) Djokovic
Please explain why your GOAT has losing records against both Nadal and Djokovic. Seems very non-GOAT esque to me.
Is Federer's lead in major championship (1 more than Nadal, 3 more than Djokovic) due to the fact he is 5 and 6 years older respectively?
Also, why does Djokovic have more career earnings?

Wut? Top tennis players are probably going to have some leverage in tennis tournaments, despite message board poster d wags not knowing who those tennis players are.

He's doing a power play imo to get more pay for the mens players than the women. I'll admit I'm not 100% certain where I stand on that issue. The tv ratings argument has some merit but I tend to think they make up for it with endorsements from the ratings they generate. At the live matches I've been to more US Opens than I can count and the women/mens matches generate the same crowds and enthusiasm from the no names all the way on up to the mens. The sport has always been a bit ahead of the curve on womens equality so I'm tilting towards just saying pay them equally.

Both those guys are younger than Federer. He's won the most majors and I think until Djokovic or Nadal knock him off it's his thrones. Who's your goat?

He was the best back in the day. I loved the neon clad long hair iteration the best.

I mean this would make sense if that’s what you said in the first place. I was just trying to understand your point.

There's a reason CBS sold the US Open to ESPN - without an American super star a lot of people are not interested.

Re: Novak Djokovic > Roger Federer
I am not the one starting a thread saying that Federer is the GOAT. I am not sure you can/need to name a GOAT.steveschneider wrote:MSU addict wrote:So your rankings:

Basically your argument is that Federer is the GOAT because he played five years where there wasn't much competition (the likes of Andy Roddick and Lleyton Hewitt).
Federer is certainly one of the all time greats. I also think it is pretty clear why most people don't give him GOAT status.

I’d say he’s tied with Nadal and like Nadal chances to pass him.

Update to this thread, I put Djokovic ahead. Let's be real if that ball girl wasn't in the way he would have 19 grand slams under his belt right now.
