Paddle boards Empty Paddle boards

Post by Tim Wakefield on 2020-05-23, 15:10

Anyone know anything about these things? I've done it a few times and really liked it. I live across the street from the beach now so I'd like to get one of my own.

What should I look for? Anything to avoid?

We got a set of two from Costco that we keep at camp. They are decent quality. The cheaper ones are plastic and feel cheaper. The more expensive ones are made of better materials and feel more expensive. They all float....

Bigger the better. Obviously is depends on your size and balance. I bought some $300 blowups and they work good if you don't have a place to store it. I think they are 8-footers. 10-footers. They are definitely challenging for me, compared the bigger solid ones.

Edit: 10-footers https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072BZ74VK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Kinda sketched out by the "inflatable" ones but I haven't seen a lot of negative stuff about them.

Was looking at a pair of these: https://www.cabelas.com/product/Lifetime-Horizon-Stand-Up-Paddleboard/2262610.uts?productVariantId=4594526&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=04451288&rid=20&ds_rl=1246549&ds_rl=1246552&ds_rl=1252242&ds_rl=1252079&gclid=CjwKCAjwk6P2BRAIEiwAfVJ0rGEYY3WuN3KVWomMFwHoeHKbkIurzaO0MXISV-xZA8iigPfVFN6L4hoC_mgQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Those are almost identical to the Costco 2 pack for $749.

Yeah, I saw a story about them a year ago and I fell in love instantly. There’s no point in buying one right now, because I’m landlocked for the summer. But I’m saving my pennies for when there’s a safe and effective vaccine.

I was too, but reviews were good, I've had no issues and they seem durable... you should be good

These are the pics needed to proof the existence of America’s own version of a Loch Ness monster: The Torch Lake beast.

Bought an inflatable one that's too small and my balance sucks. Had to buy outriggers to even use it. Other than that it's okay for floating around on the pond.

On shore. Working on the basics. Will reward with beer.

Not a paddle board comment, but I saw a family of local goobers kyaking in the Shiawassee river today... 4 days after all of the water treatment plants dump shit in the water... I don't like my hometown.
