That’s going to take a while to get. But I don’t think he will have issues anyway. Regardless what the bill is, I think Medicaid will end up paying for it all (travel nurse company doesn’t offer benefits). That, being a part of the remdesivir clinical trial, and there’s talk of Health care professionals not having to pay if they get sick. We don’t foresee an issue. But we are estimating the bill to be well over 2 million.

I have much respect for what our health care workers do, but the medical billing, insurance and pharmaceutical costs are out of control. Been getting progressively worse every year for the last 40 years. They now have pretty much carte blanche to charge anything they want.

Been in the hospital a few times for A-fib the past 4 years after never being in one since birth. You'd think once admitted you'd get one bill from the hospital for the days of care you received to cover deductibles. Nope. You get the hospital bill plus half a dozen other bills from companies you never heard of for often non-descript services. WTF?

Health care costs including insurance/pharmaceuticals/billing system are even more fucked up than the federal tax code. Both need major reform/simplification.

I decided to undertake the cleaning, leveling and sanding/sealing of my back paver patio after the only quote we could get was ~ 2k (included some work on some pavers in the front). No one else would call me back. I got one text message back that they were too busy and to try in July or August. Yeah, no. I found the best deal on polymetric sand at Menards and according to what I read on their site, it seemed pretty straightforward as a curbside, pull in, scan your barcode, drive to where we tell you and be done. But nope, I should have known, Menards is always a clusterfuck. It's like the Wal Mart version of Lowes/HD. They had me pull around back and told me I could get my order at door 14. Door 14 was the online pickup counter, I've been there before, so I had to put my mask on and go in. People were pretty good about masks and distance minus the few employees that had their masks below their noses. But then my good man tells me to follow him, leads me to another part of the indoor garden center and points me to the 50 lb bags of sand and tells me it's a "pull it yourself" order. Sigh. Did not realize. No problem usually but I fucked my back up something fierce last week. So I had to trudge back and get a pull cart and load 400 lbs of sand from a stack on the floor onto this cart, and then pull it all the way out to the car and bend down and load 400 lbs of sand into the back of the minivan.

Sidebar of the summer of COVID - everyone is fucking jumping at the seams to do shit - yard work, home projects, day trips, camping. It's kind of funny the subconscious mental toll the shut down took on all/most of us. I certainly am not among those occupying Lansing because I wanted to plant seeds, but I definitely feel an urge/motivation to get shit done now that we can. I started researching builders again for my home remodel even though I know that ship has sailed for this season.

It could be easily fixed but there are too many making too much money. Neither Trump or Biden will challenge the ludicrousness of the medical industry.

But that's the thing about the 7 day rolling averages, they change every day. One or two days of a sharp decline or a sharp increase doesn't mean much in terms of an overall trend, but it can swing a 7 day average overall.

So when the spike/second wave arrives, and I suspect it will, we'll know who to blame.

It's amazing, really - America had the science and the data to combat the virus.. to kind of tread water until the vaccine arrives. We just didn't have the political/cultural will to adhere to it.
