Forget the graphs and look at the CDC raw numbers. Michigan clearly has the worst per capita covid death rate of all midwest/great lakes states since all this started. I'll grant Whitmer had little control over that and it's not her fault. But, to see far left dems praising her handling of the covid situation?
You are clearly a fucking moron.

My mom was in the ICU unit for over a month after a very nasty accident. If I remember right the bill came to over $1 million. Aeromed to Spectrum was well into the 6 figures.

Dendro said she and her fam were guessing it’s going to be closer to the $2m price tag. As staggering as that estimate is, Denbro is alive and getting well and that’s really all that matters right now.

Especially when it’s the wives or daughters who’ve been tracked down. “Officer, my daughter isn’t a stripper. She’s in college studying nursing.”

Lets be real, the price "charged" for medical care is nowhere near what actually gets paid. Hell for any random X-ray you get sent for the "cost" might be $200 and then the negotiated rate is like $50, then insurance picks up X. Our healthcare and insurance system is broken as fuck and we all know it. I never got the $$$ number for the shit that I went through but from what I was told as a joke it was enough to buy a Lambo and then some.

No clue how long it takes them to collect from insurance companies or any outstanding debt that is the patient's responsibility if they get even a portion of it.
At the end of this we will all be paying more in insurance premiums. Its the way it works. The major carriers like Blue Cross sit down individually with the hospital system's CFO and Accounting departments and come back with their proposed coverage reimbursement schedules. Plugged into the new premium schedule that we pay is the uncollectables the hospitals incur.
Miami is spot on with the BS meter pegging out.

I’m sure we won’t know the bill for a while. I was surprised when there was that one article posted that had a bill already. This sort of thing takes a long time.
People have to realize too that physicians do not get any money from corona. They’re paid their usual rate. They would not risk the forfeit of their license to put something else as the reason a patient is there. There is no incentive for them, it’s quite the opposite. It’s people not having any idea how hospital systems work thinking they’re experts.

I would feel like I would catch something worse than COVID just going in there. And I like strip clubs.

Yeah I figured I low-balled it. My wife was in the hospital for five days after a car accident two years ago. No ICU but two surgeries. Bill was 95k.

Last time I was in it worked out to be about $10k/day. The negotiated rate the insurance paid was nowhere near that though. In Michigan the hospitals absolutely rape the auto insurers when it's labeled an accident.

Sounds safe to me. Being outside seems to be safe. I definitely need a get away and am thinking camping is probably the way to go.

Nope. Especially with Florida cases blowing up, I'm not really jumping to go to anything within the state, and unless there's some emergency (knock on wood), I don't feel very good about going on a plane or renting a car. We might do a couple of day trips within a 2-3 hour drive to places where we would be outdoors, like Sanibel, Melbourne, or maybe the Keys. In other words, quieter places, with fewer crowds, where we can just take our own food in a cooler and not have to encounter other people much, and are in control of our surroundings.

Yeah, I'm kind of just leaning towards this as well which is this might just be a lost summer. Another thought I've had is rent an RV and just do a road trip. Would have my own facilities, kitchen and food in there. I could definitely use a change of scenery.

Miami to Traverse City and back out of Detroit to Ft. Lauderdale is the cheapest I've ever seen it. Can get a round trip ticket for $208, usually at this time of the year and that itinerary it is $500+ a person, unless it is booked 6 months in advance.
That being said, I am going to SC, Hilton Head the week after 4th of July to go golfing. I'm probably going to wear a mask in stores and restaurants though. I'm used to it at this point and I never know if I might have been exposed or not.

Vacations usually aren't something we have much money left over for. And I feel like we are the only people in MI who don't have anyone close to us, friends or family, that has a cabin/boat.
Although we talked about for a long weekend in the muskegon area. We'd bring the dog and go to the dog beach on lake Michigan. But I think it would be kinda boring since there's not much else we can do. And I don't feel safe going into restaurants (and I'm unsure how I feel about hotels).
So short answer... probably not

Yeah, I’m going into stores with a mask on. Ate a outdoor seating restaurant yesterday that had plenty of space. Not sure I’d fly yet. I’d have to do some research on that.

Pretty much agree with about all this. Even though I went to an outdoor restaurant yesterday not sure I'm ready to sit inside with table service. I could probably do the hotel but I'd do my best to space out from people and have it be one of those hotels where when you exit your room your outdoors. Think I'm leaning towards camping.

I would be all in for camping. But I would have to have some boating/lake access to be worth it. And while I true camping to me involves a tent, there is no way in my condition I would want to do that to myself. So I would need a cabin too. We're just SOL.

Re: Coronavirus?? We gone?
We usually take a summer vacation, usually a Florida beach or Disney. Not doing either this year. We're not going to be flying anywhere anytime soon, I'll follow the lead of the epidemiologists on that survey on that activity.
I do want to go explore some of the National parks in the West - Yellowstone, see Mt. Rushmore, etc. That would be an RV trip. I considered it this year, but bottom line is I don't want to drive a f'ing RV from MI all the way out there. I'd rather fly into somewhere and rent an RV there so I eliminate the 18-22 hour drive from the front and back end of the trip. So that's not happening, either. I imagine we will just be going to the cottage up north a few times, maybe hitting up some of the beaches on the big lakes, possibly the Sleeping Bear Dunes. We already did a 4 hr kayak float in the Au Sable a few weeks ago.

If you've never done the drive from Michigan out there it's pretty damn nice. With kids that might be a different story but I remember really enjoying the drive and the scenery just keeps getting better and better the further west you go. I'm probably just going to use this year to invest in some camping equipment and get my ass up to the Adirondacks or somewhere out in Vermont.

I think as long as you are smart about social distancing and a mask you'll be fine. I'm sure with tech you could find curb side restaurants, food trucks or whatever so you can avoid enclosed places.

Last summer we flew into Denver, then did a driving road trip to those places you mentioned, to Mt Rushmore, a bit of Montana, a bit of Idaho, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, back to Denver. I'd do it again in a heart beat. You can fly closer, but I hate connections to little airports. But yeah, maybe wait a year or two (depending on vaccine, etc.). Your kids will get as much or more out if it in a year or two as they would now.

LANSING, Mich. – At least 14 people who recently visited Harper’s Restaurant & Brew Pub June 12-20 have tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The health department advises people who were at the East Lansing establishment June 12-20 to watch for symptoms of the respiratory disease.

Re: Coronavirus?? We gone?
Trump doubles down on his own stupidity.
President Donald Trump on Tuesday insisted he was serious when he revealed that he had directed his administration to slow coronavirus testing in the United States, shattering the defenses of senior White House aides who argued Trump’s remarks were made in jest.
“I don’t kid. Let me just tell you. Let me make it clear,” Trump told reporters, when pressed on whether his comments at a campaign rally Saturday in Tulsa, Okla., were intended as a joke.
“We have got the greatest testing program anywhere in the world. We test better than anybody in the world. Our tests are the best in the world, and we have the most of them. By having more tests, we find more cases,” he continued.
